Title: Call For Readers (Mark XVI)
Post by: EUOL on July 25, 2005, 03:01:32 PM
THE WELL OF ASCENSION is finished, and I don't believe I've offered it up for reads yet.  So, here we go.   Anyone who wants to give this a read, let me know, and I'll fire you off a copy.

This call is only for those who've done reads for me before, unfortunately.  Those of you who are newer to the boards may not realize this, but many of the people here are friends of mine in RL.  If you hang around for a few years and seem like a trustworthy type, I might be persuaded to send you copies of future books.  However, I need to be VERY careful with electronic copies (as you might imagine) of my novels.

There will be a physical copy going around Utah eventually, and I'll let anyone who asks nicely read that one.

Also, the Alcatraz First-Person rewrite/general cleanup is finished.  Any of you who read the first draft, and want to see what I did with this version, are welcome to post for a copy here.  Also, if you've never read this one, it's quite quick and (hopefully) a fun read.  I could use feedback, now that it's in the format I want.

Hunterlab location, SE?

You can send them both to me, as I never got back to the old version of Alcatraz after the first three chapters. Sorry, work has been pretty crazy. But I'm reserving weekends for personal reading now--it's draining me to keep bringing work home. Hopefully I can read them both before Labor Day and give you feedback then--that work?

Stop writing, damnit! You make everyone else look slothlike. :P

I'll pass this time. I have 4 books to work though, including that 800 giant that Jeffe recommended and 3/4 of the illuminatus trilogy.

If you'll trust me with the paper manuscript when I'm in Utah, I'd love to read it.

Otherwise I'll just have to sit out and sulk and wait for it to get published.  =รพ

Brandon, I *live* with you and I don't even know what Well of Ascension is. Or at least, if I do, I've forgotten.

Anyway, I cancelled my WoW subscription so I could force myself to read the new Potter book, so I might as well read this new one you've got. Whatever it is.

Send me both if you've a mind to.

You can send me Well of Ascension. I'm rather comfortable reading from a screen (particularly since I can control the formatting), so the electronic version will do for me. Just remember to nag me for comments.

Well of Ascension is the second Mistborn book for those not "in the loop".

Would one have to have read Mistborn first?

If not, and, if I am invited, I would read it for you.

I'd love to read over this story (if you can forgive me for not sending my Alcatraz comments to you in time).

Send to me, if you would.  My wife's not letting me write anymore, so I have plenty of time.

Did I miss anyone?

And, Archon:  You don't have to have read MISTBORN 1, but this is a sequel, meaning there are continuing characters and it builds of things in the first one.  You've been around long enough that I'd consider sending you a copy, if you are willing to read and give me feedback.

*I* would be interested to see how someone who has not read Mistborn would react to the sequel. Though...it would definitely spoil the first book for him...

I just finished the last book, spending all day at work and then all evening in my office.  She says I'm not allowed to start something new for a few months so that I can hang out with her.

What, I don't get one just because I didn't know it was the second Mistborn book? Sheesh.

Well, I figured you would grab the hard copy, Tage.  It might take me a while to print one, though.  Would you rather get an electronic?

I got mine, Alcatraz and Well of Ascension. The writing group is going to be soooo jealous that I get to read WoA before them--but I get perks because I'm the girlfriend.  :D

I find it hilarious that Tage and EUOL are discussing this on Timewasters, rather than talk to each other at home.

Got it, and I'll send those comments for Alcatraz soon.

Yes especially since they could just communicate via Telepathy since EUOL is in D.C. right now.

Telepathy rocks. Unfortunately it's coverage is rather limited and has poor customer support.

I want to read Alcatraz...but do you think you'll be doing a paper copy?  I'll read from screen if I absolutely have to, I guess.

I'd like to read Well of Ascention but first I have to get to Mistborn I...which is sitting around here somewhere.

And before I read any of that I should finish Elantris, which is what I'm off to do now.  So yay.

Yes. Alcatraz. Unless you'd rather I waited for Brenna's copy.

And I'd like a crack at Well of Ascension, but I'm willing to wait in line for the hard copy.

I'm about 2/3 through and quite impressed. My time is shot, though. Only got through part of a chapter last night, and didn't read any at all this morning, and the missionaries are teaching a lesson at our place tonight... *sigh*

Great!  I'm rather anxious (as much as I get) to hear what you have to say.  Since this is my first sequel and all, I'm worried about several issues.

Brandon, I have emailed you my notes in a 45K email.

What issues were you worried about? How many did I and did I not address?

I'm really sorry.

I'd love to read anything you cook up, EUOL.  If it isn't too late, I'll do a read for you.  I think you have my e-mai, if not, it's in my profile.
