Schlock, undercover, circus.
It was destined, I think. And I really, really hope we get to see it.
-
It will happen. I promise.
-
Aaaaand the Shlock Mercenary audience braces itself.
;)
-
All I can say is that I'm sad that I have to wait for one strip a day for this....Patience is not my strongest asset. Schlock being the undercover security for that circus can only be one thing. Hilarious.
-
Say, you know, a circus setting gives you a great opportunity to work on those backgrounds. The midway, the crowds, all of that stuff just crying out to be shown in the background?
-
Oh yeah.
So. I'm expecting the circus elephants to be unionized.
-
I don't know, Happyman. I think they may be smarter than that. ;)
-
And now we know that they are infiltrating the circus for an external agency.
This is just getting better and better.
-
And why would the police be sending undercover agents into a circus? So in the center ring we've got Michelle doing a high wire act, Schlock doing his intergalactically famous imitations, Elizabeth taming wild humans, and Chisulo leading the parade? But we really shouldn't forget...
Elf, Thurl, and Ventura in the shipyards. Remember what a wonderful job Ventura did with the Longshoreman of the Apocalypse? And now she's got the Touch-and-Go to work with?
The Keystone Cops (aka Shodan, Bunnigus, and Reynstein) on Mall Security? That's got to be the sideshow, complete with sights never before seen by human eyes.
And in the field, well away from anything else, we've got Kevyn, Ebbirnoth, and Pi doing some special work for King Lota! Fireworks at midnight?
Get your popcorn ready, the show is about to begin. And don't forget, Petey had something or other he was worrying about in the prologue. I think that's the spooky music playing in the background.
Keep your appendages within the craft at all times. Sudden changes in attitude and things that bite may occur at any time. Enjoy the ride. ;D
-
Hey, bring that popcorn over here would you? By this table, yeah, that one right there.
Don't get me wrong, I'm planning on enjoying the show. I just want to make sure I have something to hide behind.
-
'saright. So you'll be wanting the SuperSize barrel, right? And would you like a Giant Gulp of Genuine Imitation Ovalkwik (r) to go with that? :o
-
At first I thought that all the other jobs were going to simply be a way of keeping competent characters from the main action.
Now I'm not so sure. The circus-as-the-plot analogy sounds really good.
Of course, I'm certain we're going to see the circus. It seems likely to be a catastrophe.
We can hope, at any rate.
-
Of course, I'm certain we're going to see the circus. It seems likely to be a catastrophe.
It BETTER bring catastrophe. It's perfectly set up for it....Fortunately, it's not the only one that'll turn sour. Our favorite little band of mercenaries don't have the best of luck. Therefore, even the mall security stuff will get quite interesting....
-
Supersize me!
And yeah, can't get anywhere in life without Genuine Imitation Ovalqwik.

I think I heard it said best (haven't got a clue where anymore):
"Tragedy is hitting your thumb. Comedy is seeing somebody else hit their thumb."
So with this setup, there should be lots of thumbs to hit.
Of course, Nothing is Happening Yet.
-
I definitely feel like I saw this in someone's sig on TWG:
"Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die." -I believe Mel Brooks?
-
Yes, it was in someone's signature on here (I forget whose) and yes, it was attributed to Mel Brooks.
-
That's Fell's sig. Probably words he lives by ;)
-
...and the comedy begins. I love Schlock's vacuous expression in panel one. "Circuses are fun!"
Also, silly Schlock. You've eaten far more indigestible things than horses (though the kicking may present a problem. You may want to make sure it's at least unconscious before attempting to eat it).

I haven't read tomorrows strip yet, but I just wanted to post this little reminder:

So. Promised and delivered.
Edit: Well, not quite. But still.
