A sequel to last year's best shooter, Battlefield 1942. Sounds awesome.

Ok, so what now? I've known of that since like october maybe. I thought everyone else did too. I'm sure next your going to put a World of Warcraft topic up in here. =P

Fell- right now I am more excited about Call Of Duty. It's an amazing game. Maybe you should give it a try.

Everything I've seen of Call of Duty looks a little lame.  I don't know anything about the mechanics, but I haven't been impressed with screenshots, etc.

coincidentally, the IT guy, while setting up my account finally, mentioned CoD. I was talking about TWG actually, and how my working computer won't run the one video game CheapA games sent me, so we talked about video games. He LOVES CoD. Talks about the realism, and said it was better than MoH, which I loved. So ... we'll see. If my nice computer ever gets working, I'll probably try it.

I haven't seen any screens of CoD, but I've heard nothing but raves about it. I get bored of shooter games with stories, though.

And Gemm, if someone releases a detailed preview of WoW, I probably will put up a topic for it. That's kind of what I do.

Yes yes, mister topic maker. I enjoyed BF 1942 immensly, as well as the two expansion packs. The open ended battlefields were just awesome and all the different weapons and tanks and the jeeps. Ohhh how I love the jeeps. Jeep, jeep! I look forward to BF: Vietnam. Go yellowjackets!

Is CoD linear, or open-ended?  I thought the strict story requirements of MoH were it's biggest drawback.

COD is an awsome game and I mentioned it because I have tried the demo and it's memories are not going to fade away anytime soon. It was a single player demo. I had a couple of squad mates to assist me just like in the original MOH. I stepped out of the bunker and was amazed by the 20 or so bombers flying over my head while the enemy AA guns tried to take them down. As I came out the leader issued the order to move into the village ahead of us. We had barely moved a couple of metres when mortar fires made us scamper for cover while a bomber went down in flames ahead of us. It was night time and the fire from all the weapons looked amazing. The enemy put up a tough fight but we managed to take them out and the AA guins. I enjoyed the demo thoroughly and would suggest people to stop commenting on the game after viewing a couple of screenshots because that's just lame.

Whoa, you were doing really well right up until the end. Sounds like a very cool game, though.

So... linear or open-ended?

I'm going to take a guess and say its linear.

The gameplay is not open ended. But don't let that "Curb your entusiasm" because everything else about the game is just spectacular.

More previews: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/battlefieldvietnam/preview_6085902.html

Some very interesting ideas here, the wildest being the VC engineer who can rig vehicles to explode and, of all the crazy things, actually dig up and relocate a spawn point.

The Heavy Assault troops now get machine guns in addition to anti-tank weapons, which would seem to make them a "no-duh" choice for just about every situation. There was a hint that heavy troops would be slow, but they'd have to pretty slow to balance out that level of firepower and versatility; if they're not careful, light assault troops will be completely obsolete.
