Homemade apple pie rules the roost, followed closely by homemade pumpkin pie, then homemade pistacio pie.

When you say "homemade" do you mean from a pumpkin or from a can of pumpkin, cause really I consider homemade even if the filling is from a can. I had "real" homemade pumpkin pie once. Some guys I knew, while I was single, actually took a pumpkin, spooned out the insides (minus seeds), cooked it, added the spices, I made the crust, and we put it together in the oven. It tasted the same as the canned stuff, but had a different texture. I felt like it wasn't worth the trouble (unless you're trying to use up a pumpkin so it doesn't go to waste).

My favorite thing to do when making pies is to buy the refrigerated pie crusts (that are rolled up). They're just as good as homemade. You can get two for about 2 bucks and it's so much easier than making it yourself. I know, crust isn't that hard, but I make a mess every time and it's a pain to clean up.

The trick with making pumpkin pie from a pumpkin is to strain it after it's cooked. That evens out the texture and makes it wonderful. My step-grandmother used a funky sieve and a wooden dowel meant to push it through. I wish I had the time to do stuff like bake goodies from scratch. :P

I don't see half the stuff you guys mention. Though I did see a crisco ad on this thread. 90% of the time I get an ad for Free Message Boards (AOL Official Site --- oh yeah, *that's* a tempting ad)

my question is if Green Day is so great, why does "Wake Me When September Ends" drive me homocidal? It's like "wow, 'Good Riddance' did so well (after our manager told us to do an acoustic song so we could be popular), let's do another just like it. We won't even have to make up any lyrics that make sense, or very many lyrics at all! Just make it sound vaguely sentimental and have an acoustic guitar in it!"

Yeah, I'm not too fond of that song either. When I first heard it I thought it was okay, but now the radio stations have overplayed it to death (as they are wont to do).

edited to add: And I'm still getting pumpkin pie recipie ads for this thread. Crap! I just made it worse.

Green Day rule is? Or are you trying to tell us that Green Day belongs to rule?
