I remember one cafe (far away from here, unfortunately) that served me a long black that was as strong as a short black. Unfortunately, never got the chance to try their short black, as I was then very eager to go and do stuff.

I tend to drink more caffeine when I'm stressed so...

I find it makes the energy more positive, I just use the stress to get more done.I thrive on pressure.
