Uhm, let us in on what's going on? It is after all, nice to know what's happening on a site you spend hours a day on.
I mean I'm freaking out wondering what's happening. I logged on and everything was blank and stuff. Now it's all blue. o.0 What happened?
-
We got hacked. We're slowly piecing it all back together.
-
Oh OK. Thanks. Using PHPBB3 would help prevent that. SMF is actually quite vulnerable. BUT I guess you guys are probably used to using SMF and don't want to reprogram the style sheets for PHPBB3. You could mod the SMF data in order to make it less vulnerable too. Just google hacking SMF and then look at what is being exploited in order to hack it then edit those strings within the system you already have. That's quite a bit of work tough.
-
Nothing is 100% secure, there's no difference between PHPBB3 and SMF when it comes to security even if the exploits are different, plus Google just people results pop up on a google search for "Hack SMF" doesn't mean there are more or less exploits then for a different BBS.
That being said the reason I chose SMF over PHPBB is at the time PHPBB was suffering from a lot of SQLinjections and a lot of sites I visit moved away from it because there was no fix for the problem.
But I think they came in through the front page which uses a very old version of PHPnuke (probably from around 2002) which is why it's not back up yet.
-
From my experience PHPBB3 is very secure and I only found one hole, and some people I know can only find that same hole. I know that those aren't ALL the exploits available for it, but you could get a lot of the more commonly used ones protected.
Just attempting to hlep.

I see the front page is coming along, good luck admin!
-
blarg, finally got it up. had the files on three different computers for some dumb reason.
-
So is the whole money bag thing actually being revived or is it just because the files you used to redo the style just from clear back in 07?
-
I like the new theme. :) Much more cozy than all the white and shades of gray. I"m newish, so I don't know if the blahs was a result of rebuilding from hackers or not. Still, nice job. :)
-
lol actually its the old theme. The gray was just what was on default i guess :) But yeah we got hacked a couple weeks back.
-
The money bag thing was an April Fool's joke that year. :D And yes, I think it is because of the files used to return us to what we were all used to. Thank you Spriggan :)

Did someone change the width of the forum?
I liked it MUCH better when it was smaller. Now it is HUGE on my screen and it not as aesthetic as it was before.
-
I'm not noticing anything different (width) on my machine...
-
Same for me as before as well.
-
I recently switched my browser to Google Chrome and suddenly everything seemed a whole lot wider...esp TWG. Perhaps thats what happened?

Nope, I'm using FF and it did it suddenly a few days ago to me too. That's why I think they changed something. I don't like it all wide and stuff it's very . . . blah.
-
Looks the same width as always to me, in firefox or anywhere. (I like it wider, though. I've got a big screen.)
-
I have a widescreen monitor, and on my Firefox it looks the same as it always has on this monitor. It could be wider and it'd be plenty fine :P
-
I have widescreen too. Maybe I just did something to FF to mess it up.
I just like there to be ample gutter-space on either side of the page. I guess I just got used to it. ha ha.
-
The width of the forum has never changed since we moved to this design, it's a fixed with of 1000
-
Be afraid...be very afraid. Perhaps it the ghosts of TWG's past....
-
I think it had something to do with Linux. I redid my laptop and it looks fine now. I'm not sure what I screwed up but I guess it's fixed now. ha ha. xD
Oh and yay for having the progress displayed again!
