I was just wondering what the plan for the HP release party was?  I've heard about all sorts of stuff that's going on, and was wondering how you'll fit in and if your going to dress up... (Guilty of being a huge Potter geek...)

Thank you all for your comments.  I'm gald it was something new... and I'm expecially honored to have gotten your comments EUOL.  (And slightly shocked since you said you never read the fanfics.  Still, not complaining.)

What are the rules of your vampires?  Can they go out in sunlight?  Do they have fangs that come and go?  Can they shape shift?  What are rules of the vampires of your universe.  I think that would help us be able to help you a bit more.

Okay, so I was re-reading Elantris, and came up with this idea for a fanfic.  I hope I got Hrathen right... but I doubt it.  Anywho, please tell me your thoughts.

---

The priest sat in a room full of pure light.  It was rather plain, consisting only of a desk of a white wood, and a chair on each side.
A door he hadn't noticed opened, and a man stepped through.  There wasn't anything unusal about the man beyond that he radiated with an unknown power.  Thinking about it for a second he realized it was like the AonDor that the Elantris had used, but rather than being something that strugged to get out, it just seemed to flow through him.
“My Lord Jaddeth?” the priest asked hesitantly.
“I go by many names Hrathen.  But yes, I am equal to the one your people call that name.”  The man replied, stepping behind the desk and sitting down in the other chair.  At hearing his words, Hrathen dropped to his knees and bowed his head.  “Please, my child, sit.”
Looking up, he saw the man smile and motion for him to return to his seat.  He did as he was bid, confused.  Squaring his shoulders, he waited to be judged.  After a few moments of silence, he said, “My Lord, I know I was wrong in betraying your ways, and your land of flesh.  I know I should have just listened to what your servant Grador Delif commanded, but I couldn't stand for killing people when I could have converted them without the bloodshed.”
“Be at peace my child.” His lord said, raising a hand as if to stop him from talking.  “I have watched over your actions, and know your intentions.  I saw how you were first filled with light and understanding, and how you caused an entire nation to turn on itself.”  Hrathen cringed slightly in guilt as he was told of what he had done.  Before he was able to say anything to defend himself, he heard Jaddeth continue, his tone slightly softer.  “I also watched as you promised yourself that with your new assignment you would not make the same mistakes.  I saw when you learned to trust in yourself and do what you felt was right, even if it was wrong to all of those around you.  And I saw when you learned to love, and I was proud.”
Hrathen looked into the other man's eyes in surprise at the final words.  The compassion and love he saw there startled him.
“My Lord, I don't understand.  I was always told that you were the great punisher, the one who would reward those who served you best, and punish any who oppose you or did not treat you with the respect you deserve.”
“I told you before that I am called by many things.  I am the one who listens to the prayers addressed to Jaddeth, but I also listen to those addressed to Domi and DoMin.
“Hrathen of Fjordell, you were once a Gyorn of your religion, and in this position you committed many grievous sins.  However, not all is lost.”
The priest furrowed his brows.  “My Lord?”
“Because you have shown a true remorse for your actions, I believe there is a way you could redeem yourself.  I would like you to become a Seon.  You would be charged with guiding and serving whomever you are given to, and guide them through life.  If you serve well in this task, I will consider your soul repented, and allow you to abide with me in my palace.  Would you like to take this opportunity.”
“Yes my Lord.  Thank you.”  Hrathen replied, eyes brimming with tears of gratitude.
“Very well then.  I want you to focus on protecting the child I am going to assign you to.  With all your prior training, I'm sure it will be no problem.”  He replied, smiling.

On the side of the mountain above Elantris, a pool of blue water stirred slightly, and out came a small ball of light, with the Aon Edo at it's center.

Sweet!  Thank you.  I'm trying to make all of the characters in the sims.

(And sorry about my comments.  I'm realizing after re-reading that they sound really impertinent.  *blush cringe*)

For the women, I actually went a little bit earlier, choosing more medieval style gowns.  Corsets are overused in fiction of this style, and I was feeling bugged by them, so I stayed away.  Gowns with lots of petticoats to make them flare at the skirt, then tight through the waist and bust, often with ornate sleeves.  Not full blown, overdone renaissance sleeves mind you.

That almost sounds to me more like the evening gowns of the cival war times.  They pulled the farthingale (hoop skirt) from the ren times, but the sleeves were a lot more relaxed.  Vary little medieval in the outfits since that style was more of an under dress which was worn over long periods of times without being washed or taken off, and an over dress which was changed more oftan, and taken off while sleeping.  Ren dresses are a bit like it, but as you said there were the big sleeves, as well as bumrolls to make the hips look big (which I think was the insperation for the big hoops for the hips during the 18th century and french revolution.)

Anywho, I was going to ask what type of clothing you were thinking of with Elantris and Warbreaker?

I finally got a chance to listen to that, and I have to agree that he seems to emphases things I don't think I would.  Still, I really like the idea of an audio book, since I love to listen to them as I work.  I agree with what someone on the blog said, and making it so that there's a diffrent person for each of the main povs.

I thought at one point SOMEONE meantions Warbreaker in regards to being the end of the war, because I remember thinking "OH!  So that's why the book is titled what it is.  Hm... I wonder who this person was?"  If not, you could easily just have the story teller say something along the lines of "The war was ended by Warbreaker, also called Peacegiver, also called many other things long since forgotten" (which would be a small hint towards Vasher since he does go by many names, and we see that quite oftan.)

As for the fighting, I just figured we'd see a lot more of it and how the fight between the statues and the lifeless in the next book.  *shrug*  Actually, I thought the ending was a great set-up for that (just like with Mistborn it gives enough closure to not leave you dying for the next one, but at the same time you can see how another one would fit, and can't wait for it.).  I mean, yes, more of the book with be with Vasher and Viv fighting the final Scholar, but that doesn't mean that Viv can't talk with her sister and find out what's going on, and thus we would know (because despite her current carefree manor, I do believe she would check in and make sure everyone was fine.)

*claps*  I was giggling through the entire chappie/epilogue.  I really liked this.

I think that your explanation on the gods looking like they wanted is good enough.  Have him be around long enough to have realized that he can control it, and play with it until he realizes he could make himself seem like a normal person at will.

Also... will we get the next book too?  Please?

Okay, so I know everyone's talk about Sub being able to use breaths... but my question is this:  Will he still need to get breaths from people in order to live, or will his devine breath fade after a week if he doesn't turn someone into a drab?

Also, I thought once you gave all of your breaths away you couldn't get more.  It seems though that Vasher and Viv are giving theirs away and getting more later all the time.  If you can do that, why don't most drabs do that?  (I could see that being a really big zelot type thing, or something the rich do to prove themselves even more.  "I give my breaths away for the god I care about most, buy more, and then go back the next week.  I become important because I'm the main sorce of breaths, which makes me seem like even more of an import person on top of all my money.)

I liked that... lots of laughter.  (I think I might have even cried a bit if I were to be reading this in a book and thus had all the emotions still raw, not week to to week, giving me time to think about everything.)

And you don't fail us with the twist.  Although, I'd almost drag it out a bit more.  Have someone explain for the girls what exactly is going on, and the fact that Vasher is Warbreaker... (Woah... weird to say.)  Great forshadowing with the statues too!

Man... I really, really hope you'll post the sequal so at least those of us who have read this one can read it... I don't want to have to wait for it to be published.  *cries at the thought*

I do have to agree there.

So, on the second do we get the first chapter of the sequal?

*lots of squeels*

first thought on reading "caused the manywars"  WHAT?!  HE WAS OLD ENOUGH?!  HOW?! WHAT?!  AND THIS IS THE LAST CHAPTER?!   YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN!!!!!!

As for the rest, I thought it was great.  I liked how Siri stood up for herself to the end, and Vasher's way of beating Denth (although, we still don't fully understand who Arsteel so I hope that is taken care of).  Although, I really can't wait to see the epilogue, since it has to be a really long one to wrap everything up in a satisfactory manner.

Over all, I can't wait to get a nice copy that's all bound and see the pretty cover art... this is great, but my mum will kill me if I try to print it out, and it's not that pratical to carry around with me.

I haven't thought yet of how the royal locks played into everything... that's something else that's had a great build up but not been touched as much lately.  *shrugs slightly*
