IE 7 Public Beta
« on: February 01, 2006, 01:21:52 AM »
IE 7 is up for download if you've got SP2, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/ie7betaredirect.mspx

Just starting to use it so I'm getting use to the new layout, though I may end up removing Tabs since I've never really cared for them.

Cool stuff:
Quick tabs, clicking this button brings up a page that has thumbnail previews of all the websites you have loaded.  Makes it easy to sort through lots of Tabs.

The search bar is neat because you can add custom searches programs to it, like twg's main search.php or the forums.

I also like the location of the favorites Icons, though some people may not since they're where Firefoxes tab stuff is I think.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

Newfangled updates!  I won't update until I'm forced to by not being able to view the most important things in my life, like bank account information and homestarrunner.com

And you kids stay off of my lawn!

That's good to hear, Sprig. My screen is ultra high-res and everything is blurry in IE, so I've been using Firefox, but I don't like Firefox for a lot of reasons, too. So I'll see if trying out IE7 makes a difference.

Hm, no, no difference. The graphics are still as grainy as ever. Sprig, any idea why the resolution of graphics in IE would be off, like big-pixel off, while the same pictures in Firefox look just fine? Take the TWG header, for example. It comes in at a smaller size in Firefox, making the resolution look normal, but small (given my ultra-high res screen, that's fine--I can increase the text size if it gets hard to read). But in IE, even on the smallest text size, everything's fuzzy, though it is bigger.

wow that's high, does ie render things at the standard size of 1024x800?

I have a feeling that IE still hasn't been intended for that resolution because so few people use it.

I dunno. All my other programs and their related visuals just appear smaller. IE and its images looks the same size as it would on a moniter with lower resolution.

my monitor at home will go upto 1280x1024 and I had no problems.  I think it just has to do with an uncommon resolution.

Well, that's really annoying. Guess that's another reason to never use IE. That, and I think IE 7 messed up my McAfee.

Hm. Any suggestions on what I should do? Probably I should go back to IE 6, I'm thinking.

At home, I use IE at 1920x1200 resolution without any problems.  Here at work, I use IE at 1600x1200.

For me, images look the same size in IE or Firefox.

So the high resolution isn't the reason for the problem.

My guess is that your monitor's DPI setting is set to "Large size (120 DPI)."  Here's how to fix that:

1. Right-click on your Windows desktop and choose "Properties"

2. Click on the "Settings" tab.

3. Click on the "Advanced" button.

4. Change the DPI Setting to "Normal Size (96 DPI)".

5. An alert may appear, telling you that the change will not take effect until you restart your computer.

6. Click "OK" to close each dialog box.

7. Restart your computer.
