You can self publish on the Kindle.  I don't know your deal with your publisher.  If your deal lets you publish without them, then why don't your publish on the Kindle?  If you do publish, how about making it like $3.99 or less?

No, theyre about the kindle like he said. Also i would assume if one of his books were to be released on the Kindle all would.

99.99% of publishers would not allow that.  He COULD when it comes to Warbreaker if he wanted. but again, read my other comments about this I've made my point numerous times.
