What are you thankful for?
« on: November 23, 2005, 08:53:36 AM »
Long list.
My CD collection
My record collection
Music in general
comics!
my comic collection
superheroes!
The genius of men such as Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Frank Oz, George Lucas, Jim Henson, Mel Blanc, Mark Waid, Steve Martin, Jimi Hendrix, Ray and Dave Davies, John Flansburgh and John Linnell, Bob Dylan, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Peter David. These are people who, while they will never know who I am and only three of which I've met in person, have given me so much that I can't think to dwell on their faults.
Turkey
Taters and stuffing
Gravy on EVERYTHING
my wife
my kids
a warm place to sleep
that my warm place to sleep happens to be near so many culturally important sites and opportunities
I've never gone hungry
I have a job in a cool location, and I have a lot of liberty there
I don't pay anything to commute
my technical skills
my writing ability
my mind
the Church
the Gospel
Jesus Christ
prophets like Joseph Smith and Gordon B. Hinckley
my kids like primary
I like teaching the priests
I can be forgiven for my many screw ups
I have many friends, or at least people who tolerate me, in spite of my many screw ups
modern medicine
I can make orange pie

and more, but those are the things I've been thinking about this week.

What I'm thankful for (in no particular order):

Flowers. Yes, just flowers in general. I love them. Roses, peonies, carnations, petunias, begonias, rose of sharon, lavender, lilac, daffodils, tulips, lily-of-the-valley---I love them all.
My husband who makes it possible for me to stay at home with...
My kids
A nice warm house
My brothers/sister/parents (and even my in-laws)
Fast internet connections
My husband's newly signed contract with IHC (horray!)
Lemon meringue pie
Books and music of all kinds and flavors
Diamond rings
Warm, sunny summer days
My friends
A good education
That I'm finally beginning to enjoy teaching cub scouts
The Church (gospel, my awesome ward, Jesus Christ, and all that)

Explosions.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Someone had to bring a bit of perspective to the thread. :)

I'm quite thankful for Satan's role in bringing to pass our salvation. (I am dead serious.)

I'm also thankful that H.M.'s H+A+ lesion left him incapable of committing adulterous sin - just think how difficult it would be for an amnesic to repent!

Well nothing I post can be weirder than that.

I'm thankful that my dad is the odd one out in his family, after having spent a Thanksgiving lunch with his side of the family today, and in a mere 45 minutes having heard racial slurs against Mexicans, African-Americans, Greeks and Japanese.

I am thankful that we have two adorable dogs to pet and love and shower attention on, even if they are really nutcases.

I'm grateful for trials in life...or more accurately the stuff learn by going through them.

I'm also grateful that I can help and serve some people from time to time.

And I'm grateful for:
My Ferret
Jordan
My Car
My Laptop
My large Family
All the people who are willing to listen to me.
All the people who will let me listen to them.
