It really is astounding how fast the MSM is capable of dismissing or vilifying anyone who would DARE to cross the secular line and actualy aknowledge that the majority of this country is religious.

I think the bigger concern with Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe isn't its christian focus, its that Lord of the Rings set the bar for that kind of fantasy movie incredibly high. In addition LWW has the dubious honor of being adapted by the BBC to make the worst program ever in the history of fantasy. People feel like its being pushed out to make a buck and thats a legitimate fear, although I think they are using christian bias to broach the subject.

Nothing--but the fanbase might be angered if the buck pushing results in a crappy movie.

I'm just wondering if you're serious about this, and you're still missing the Aslan-as-Christ symbolism in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, or if you just missed it the first time through as a kid.

That too but i'm generally disinclined to care about christian symbology.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

It's not just symbolic, it's allegorical, even.  Pretty blatant.

My husband finds Narnia annoying for some reason.  I do have all the books in hardback (ran out and finished my collection in a hurry when I realized they'd been renumbered--blasphemy!)  but I haven't read them for a quite a while.  I suppose I shall have to do that before the movie comes out.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but a new trailer came out--complete with Beavers and Aslan talking.  This was one of my concerns about the film.  If the animals all looked dumb, it could really suck.  Check it out and say what you think.  I think it looks cool.  (Except that it's only on Moviefone)

i think the animals look good, even when they talk.  I also really enjoyed watching the old BBC miniseries when i was younger.  In fact i have put the old BBC series on my queue on blockbuster online.  It looks like it should be a good movie.
