Eric you should read about this, sounds like you could talk your company into this and get free wifi internet at home... If someone you knew had a laptop they were about to make obsolete...

Its a yahoo mirror of a post article about Verizons new Wifi DC network... $70 a month... but faster than dialup and it works on the metro!

If he meant Courtney, he would have had to say "Cox-Arquette"

I know a lot of people over on the east cost thinks Comcast is evil, but they've got a great cable modem setup.  Maybe you should try them.

netzero = $9.95/month
cheapest cable I can find = $45/month
DSL = $50/month

The problem is cost. I can't shell out the additional $35-40 a month. $70 would be absolutely unreasonable (plus I go into DC maybe once a month, tops, there's no need for that.

Cox actually is really good, Jeffe. Remember when you were having all those problems? That wasn't with Cox. cox has been ever-lovin' friendly to my dad, and it's what I'd go with if I had the cash to front.

Saint, I saw some commercials for Earthlink at $19.95/mo. They were the bottom rung of the ISPs about 5 years ago and I haven't heard much about them lately, but it might be worth checking out.

so basically because one person has a major issue with one provider it's a bad company? even when you feel that a different company can change what it's been doing? Interesting.

Except its not just one person... my parents have cox cable and my inlaws have cox cable... horrible service and impossible to get them to do anything about it. So out of three people I know that have COX all three have had major trouble...
And Its not that I like comcast... Im ok with their service but I dont think their hugely better... just adequate.
Of course its a moot point since no one else offers their services where I live.

My dad hate Coxs so much he bought a Dish

Oh and I used to have Cox in Hampton Roads... I didnt like a lot of things about their service then either.
At least Comcast is innovating more than a lot of other cable companies, with their new DVR cable boxes.
