Title: A new game from Wizkids
Post by: Fellfrosch on March 16, 2005, 03:23:23 PM
In the same vein as their Pirates of the Spanish Main constructible strategy game, Wizkids is coming out with a rocketship game that looks pretty cool.

just one question
Why is it called "Rocketmen" if half the characters pictured are scantily clad blue and green chicks.

Oh wait.. I get it.

Hmmm...interesting.

I bought a little of the Pirates stuff, but never got around to playing. I'll have to remember to check the rules once they become available.

Just got an answer from WizKids PR: the game is scheduled to release in August or September, and will have five playable factions (as illustrated at the bottom of the press release).

Sounds interesting, so sure I'll buy a pack.

But one question.  Will it come with the cool little (ie Microscopic) dice that Pirates had?

The idea is to have all you need to play a game in a pack, so I'd have to say yes.

That said, it'd be a pretty crappy game using only one ship apiece, and most probably differing point totals.

Finally, some news about how the game works. Out theories on customization of lasers and shields has proven true, but the really interesting part are the action points. I hope we hear more about them soon.

so distributers are taking pre-orders for august. its about 80-90 dollars a case.

Course there will be a special DVD pack too with all the episodes of the cartoon they're running.
So pricing will be 3.99 per normal pack or 12.99 w/dvd.

Yikes I'm getting more and more scared that Heroclix will be cancled sooner the latter.  WK announced two new games at comic con both are card based.

First is a CCG

Second is a NASCAR game like Pirates

Nascar game's product placement alone should pay for many years of Heroclix.
