That's true.
A lot of people describe Scalzi’s Old Man's War novels as military science fiction, but I would classify its sequel Zoë’s Tale as a space opera. It’s a story about, well, Zoë, a teenage girl whose parents are invited to take leadership roles in building a colony on a new planet. Zoë is an enthusiastic member of the group sent to colonize Roanoke, despite the risks—and the risks are considerable even before the political machinations of greater powers boil to the surface. because I was in my house on January 1st, I still have to pay taxes for the fiscal year July 1st 2009 to June 30th 2010.When you bought the house, did the people who who were in it on Jan 1st pay the taxes for that year? I'm assuming not.

(Lois is my favorite author, so I'd recommend almost any of her stuff, though the Sharing Knife series is best read in two-book clumps because each book is really half a book as far as plot sophistication goes.)Lois is my favorite author too.
