TWG Utah get-together
« on: February 13, 2005, 02:21:42 AM »
So I'm back in town again next weekend. I know, the novelty is wearing off. But I present my paper Friday at 4, so whoever is available is welcome to come watch me try to act all scholarly. I was thinking, though, that perhaps right after that, or maybe at 6 that night, we might all gather for dinner, whoever's in Provo-Orem. Might be tight for Brenna, and I know some people might have to work, but what do you guys think? Either that, or Saturday evening dinner? Saturday lunch between LTUE sessions (I'm on three panels that day, so will be pretty much bound to campus during the day)?

EDIT: I take that back. I'm on a panel Friday at 5, so it'd have to be no sooner than 6-ish on Friday.

I'd be interested, but Saturday could be rough. (Unless we did it here--how does a barbecue sound?)

Saturday is writing group for me this week.  (The Laytons had to switch it.)  That leaves me out of dinner things, though I'd be up for something earlier.  (I'm not sure when I'm on programming, though.)

Have they not sent you a schedule? I got updates so frequently that it got a little annoying. I can email it to you.

My email dumped it, Stacer.  A re-send would be nice.

I have some sort of orientation for a new job on Wednesday (at least I'm assuming this means I get the job) and so until they call back, I have nooooo idea what I'm doing for the rest of the week.  As long as it involves sleeping in past 7am, I don't care though.

I'd like to get together with everyone, put names with handles and faces with names and all that.

I wouldn't be able to meet anyone in Provo earlier than 7pm on Friday, though.  Saturday I could do whatever, Lunch, Dinner, ...Breakfast...?

I'll be floating around LTUE pretty much all day Saturday and I may try and get down in the evenings on Thursday and Friday.

Only thing about lunch on Saturday is that I'm on a panel at noon, so it'd have to be before or after that. It's sounding like Friday evening would be a good night, if we allow for Skar joining us a little later than everyone else (it wouldn't be that much later--I don't get done with LTUE that day till 6). Am I getting that right?

Friday night is looking good to me, wherever we meet.  I'm pretty sure I can be down there by or a little after 7 so...yeah.

That sounds about right. Most people have at least one thing going on Saturday, but Friday after 7 it looks like everyone's free (and, as you say, we could start earlier and let Skar join us when he can).

So, Fell, what is this you speak of? A barbecue?   Friday's just as good a day for that kind of thing as a Saturday.  :D Unless you'd rather not have to be a host. If not, someone want to suggest a restaurant? I'm thinking 6:30-6:45-ish, which means that Skar wouldn't be all that far behind us.

You're welcome at my house, but Tage and EUOL's is bigger. I'd prefer a barbecue, because I'm poor and don't want to pay for dinner, but if you want to go out to eat and then meet back later for games or movies I'm happy with that, too.

It's a little nippy for a barbeque, don't you think? I'd be willing to do one anyway, but I'm also open to staying warm and dry inside a nice restaurant.

If you ask nicely--or even just kind of look at him funny--Tage will probably pay for you, Fell.
