Parting Advice

So, I teach the final session of my Writing SF&F class tomorrow.  I intend to end with a discussion of practical issues--cover letters, query letters, publishing, that kind of thing.  

However, I'm open to any suggestions about other things to include.  If you were teaching this class, what parting wisdom would you give the students?

"A writer writes, always"
tell them just to keep at it. Not to quit, even if it takes a long time. They have to keep going to improve or to even finish one. THere's a great personal satisfaction that comes with finishing a writing project that doesn't even need publication to achieve. So encourage them to finish works, even if they don't plan to publish.

I think that the advice that would help me the most is two fold.

1: Hang out with people who also enjoy writing, as they will encourage you.

2: You don't have to be D. Wolverton or B. Sanderson and write 8 hours a day to be a writer. It's okay to do what you can do, if only because you enjoy it.
