Scoff, scoff, scoff!
Forgive me if I scoff, but there has never been a good film adaptation of a video game. Don't these people ever learn. Video games are meant to be played not watched.

The movie rights were actualy sold about a year ago, along with several other Videogames.  John Woo doing it rases my hope that it wont be another street fighter, but lets face it Video game to movie translations never work.

Agreed.  And John Woo...he couldn't even do The Hulk right.  I mean, how hard is it to do "HULK SMASH!"

(Yes, SE, I know you'll take exception to this.  That's part of why I wrote it.)

I enjoyed The Hulk.  It was less the smashing and more the bouncing.  Hulk... bounce!

Tek jumps around with joy that her favorite video game will be put to movie

But you're right, there really isn't much of a plot in Samus' life.  Little Bug=kill, Metroid=kill, Mother Brain=kill.  Pick up life, more guns, and better suits in the process.

so you're exciteat your favorite video game will be turned into a filmed piece of crap?

I'm sorry, but that "it was a good game" is among the worst reasons ever to make a movie out of it. Games are good for completely different reasons than movies.

The Metroid games are some of my favorite...but I have to admit, that I would be very ashamed if the movie turned out to be a box office flop. But seriously...go play Metroid Prime, or any of the other Metroids (Prime, for the Gamecube, IMO is the best one, despite it being newer). Anyway, all I can say is that I hope John Woo can do this right.

knowing jonh woo, samus will probably take off her helmet while beating up mother brain and it will turn out to be tom cruise, then mother brain's head will fly off and a new one will pop up and it will also be tom cruise, then all of a sudden they will both be riding motorcycles on a seacliff, crash them, then a twenty minute fight scene of tom cruise kicking his own butt....

And Samus would have to drop her old laser cannon for a pair of pistols.
