So my shiny new job is tarnishing very quickly. They keep us late virtually every day for "rush projects" (I was there Monday until 4 in the morning on Tuesday), and instead of gratitude we mostly just get emotional abuse about how we're not working hard enough. Of the three managers I deal with the humane one just quit, partly because she's sick of dealing with all the crap, and as soon as she announced she was leaving most of us started polishing up our resumes. It's just not a pleasant atmosphere by any means. So if anyone is aware of a good job, I'm looking again (by choice, this time, thank goodness).
Oh, and by the way, they've curtailed Internet and email activity to near Orwellian levels, so all my updates will early morning or late the previous night. There may be some hiccups (such as the last two postless days) while I work into a new system. Bear with me, and submit some articles!

Cottontree's probably hiring. (ha ha.)
Though, more seriously, I'm afraid I don't know of anything. I do have to say, though, it's too bad you can't just teach. It's actually pretty fun.
-
Well I hope for your sanitys sake you get a better job, hopefully in Logan. Don't think the family would want to have to move again after only a few months.
-
That sucks, Fell. I will keep my eyes and ears open for jobs.
-
Well, as I've told you before, we're looking for a forklift operator here at Weyerhaeuser. Go for the gold, baby!
-
If Cottontree *is* hiring, let us know, so J.T. can apply. His company is almost as bad as Fell's.
Yesterday a girl got fired because she lost all of her "points". Reasons for losing such points included coming in to work 10 minutes early and driving across the street to get a drink on her lunch break.
-
Huh? Are they not allowed to leave the premises on lunch break? ??? And you'd think arriving to work early would be considered the mark of a good employee.
-
You would think so, wouldn't you?
-
I know someone was also fired from Convergys for showing up early. I think it's an anti-overtime measure. But it's still absurd.
-
Yeah. Don't clock in early. Blah!!

Dawn and I had a serious look at going back to school here at USU, with an eye toward eventually teaching. It's a possibility, but a pretty far-off one. On the plus side, hating my job with violent passion has prompted me to write more than I have since Nanowrimo, so maybe it's a good thing, in a backhanded sort of way.

hey, sometimes it takes stuff like that to get you going. You gonna start hanging out with the Abridged Speculists on Wednesday nights again?
I totally identify with the school thing, as you may have seen on the other thread, I'm taking some really hard looks at what I want to be doing the rest of my life,a nd how I can make it. It just seems like anything I want to do will take a lot of time, something I feel like I have less of as I get older.
