I have no clue what this message was about, nor any knowledge of who DragonFire2k5 is.

Of course, that's exactly what I would say if it was a coded message from my handler.

The SF Clichés market is closed.  The deadline was November 1, 2005.

Let me just recommend www.ralan.com and www.storypilot.com as good places to look for spec-fic markets.

IMHO, considered as a whole, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the greatest television show ever made.

I didn't start watching it until reruns of the second season when it was airing.  But I wasn't really hooked until the second season's finale -- one of the most perfectly conceived and executed examples of requiring your protagonist to make a painful choice.

Meet me in St. Louis, Louis,
Meet me at the con.
Don't tell me that sci-fi fandom
Won't stay up till dawn.
We can tease convention rookies,
And we'll see some tipsy wookies
If you will meet me in St. Louis, Louis,
Meet me at the con.

Eric knows that the web page for the World Fantasy Convention is http://www.worldfantasy.org.  Eric also knows how to cut and paste.

Some advice I've been given about writing humor is that if the situation is ridiculous, your characters need to take it seriously; but if the situation is serious, your characters need to make light of it.  Basically, your characters' response needs to be incongrous to the situation.

Unfortunately, after lunch I started feeling a bit sick, so I went home.

I looked at that video of building 7 a while back, and I'm pretty sure those aren't squibs.  What Prof. Jones sees as puffs of smoke don't act like puffs of smoke.  For example, they move downwards at the exact same rate as the building wall as it collapses.

I was rather annoyed when I first heard that Prof. Jones would be speaking about this at Life, the Universe and Everything, but then I realized that what he's proposing is pure fantasy, so it would fit right in at a science fiction and fantasy symposium.
