Much like a good Scooby-Doo story doesn't ever have Scrappy, this movie, like the comic I reviewed (http://www.timewastersguide.com/view.php?id=489), does not use the phrase "heroes in a half-shell."

I dono, the first Scooby-Doo movie had scrappy and it wasn't half bad.

I was a fan of the cartoon back in the day, but I don't want to spoil the happy memories I have of it by watching any of the movies. Or the cartoons again, for that matter. Nostalgic memory should not be spoiled by harsh reality.

both of you are foolish. Nothing good ever came of Scrappy Doo. And spoiling a memory of a cartoon by watching a much superior movie? I don't even know where to start on that, so I'll just leave it at this: You are denying yourself needlessly.

Did you even see the Scooby movie because they pretty much made fun of Scappy when he was in it ("He not even a puppy, he has a glandular problem.")

The first scooby-doo (I think it was, anyhow...) really bugged me because Scrappy ended up being the bad guy. It was like MI-1. Head guy's the turncoat? Yeah right. Haven't seen the turtles movie yet though. Was kind of turned off by the "monsters at midnight" thing that they had going on. I mean, what ever happened to the Shredder? Monsters? Just seemed like a bit much. I'll probably grab it when it comes out on DVD, but won't be seeing this one in the theatres. Similar to Eragon. Just doesn't look like it'd be worth the money to me.

The problem with making fun of Scrappy is there being a Scrappy in the first place, which is better ignored than mocked.
Now, dan, how much TMNT have you actually read or watched? Asking the location of Shredder is akin to asking Batman where the Joker is. Sure he's iconic and deeply tied to the character, but you *can* do stories without him -- very good stories. And the turtles have gone to space and fought against a militaristic empire led by aggressive... triceratops. It was actually ahuge development and actually the inspiration for much of the second film. Monsters are part and parcel of the turtles property. Besides, who said there was no Shredder?
Now, I urge to to read the review I wrote (link in first post). Because honestly, you're missing out an a very fun movie.

Plus in the comics the Shredder dies in the first comic, he was never a main villain until Archie Comics got a hold of the property.
I think this movie's strongest point is there's no Shredder (though in the Return to New York comic they did actually have Shredder coming back to life).

It is very nice to see them up against something else than Shredder. Just a single villain that they always fight becomes more of rivalry than it does a hero thing.
They *do* hint at Shredder, though not for certain, for a possible sequel.

Thank you for the review. I have been wondering if it would be worth it to take my kids to a matinee, and it sounds like it will. I also really love the comic :)
