What's up not only with remakeing movies that are only 15-20 years old in Hollywood lately? Not only that but they're also remakeing Evil Dead again for the second time! Not only that but no Ash, for the best, and Raimi is only going to be a producer.
I guess the people who are makeing the movie, same studio as the grudge, want to take it back to it's pure horror/slasher roots (like the original).
On the good news side, Raimi has some ideas for the sequal to the Army of Darkness.
I was going to post a link to this, but it's allready gone from SCiFI Wire's page. They never keep news for long.

that's just insulting for two reasons: first that they are considering remaking a classic, and (2) not putting in Ash. Ash=Evil Dead. Without Ash (ie Bruce Campbell) there is no Evil Dead.

Well I think it's a good thing not to have Ash that way that character isn't tarnished by what will be a generic horror movie.
The only thing, that have been annoucned so far, that's being kept from the original is that 5 friends finds the Necronomicon at a cabin in the woods.

in red-neck appalachia? Or will it be woods in Europe or soemthing?

It'd be fun to be an extra for a zombie movie :)

mmmmm........MMMmmmm..........Braaaaaiinnsss!
I have to agree with MoreDew on this one. If Bruce Campbell doesn't reprise the role of Ash!
Evil Dead=DEAD EVIL
What's this about a sequel to Army of Darkness? SWEET! Let's get the hell out of here!

I agree Bruce Campbell made that movie so great
