So the road map is complete. The reason I started re-drafting my book (and the reason for my absence from the forums) was that I had hit a brick wall. The loose outline I had originally planned was broken. I hit about chapter eight in the book and realized that the way I had it set up wasn't working. So I started over, this time beginning a little bit earlier in the storyline. I changed some of the biographical backgrounds of the main character (to fix some of the things that weren't working), and I merged a few characters (to fix the problem I was having with length/plot). I even obliterated an entire city from the face of the land. Heady stuff, neh?
And now, when I reach that scary point at the end of my detailed outline and have to take a step into the darkness, I know roughly what the terrain is like.
It's a comforting feeling.
