Just saw this (http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6302232.html) today. You still have a job, right?

We had 3 copy editors. I'm not the one who was laid off. I am actually finally getting benefits.

I don't think my job is in danger. But it might have been easier for us had I gotten laid off, since we're trying to decide whether or not to leave anyway.

It's a crazy place to work. Too bad I love it so much. That makes it very tough.

Whew. It's good to hear that. Although . . . I get your point about certain decisions being "easier" if you had been laid off.

My bro (and three other FT managers at Kmart) was laid off recently. Ironically, this is the best thing that's happened to him in a while. It finally motivated him to take the GED test last week after having dropped out of HS about three years ago! Yay!! He scored 95 on the mult. choice and his essays should come in soon. The only drawback is that he's also been wanting to join the Marines and now that he's got his GED (I'm sure he passed), he'll probably do so. Sure, I'm very proud of his desires and I love this country, but I'm, well, afraid for him. *sigh*
