for some reason I seem to remember just a single line saying he had dark skin. To be honest I can't even verify that its really in the book, as my copy is with a friend right now. But yeah, he had darker skin in my mind, or at least really tan skin. Could have been Indian, who knows?

but, moving on from M. Night Shamallamaidingdong...

MEESTBWARN. I do believe this is the point in the proceedings where I open the canniest can of worms possible (for me at least).

Sazed

Now, he's my favorite character by a long shot, so I'm taking this one super super seriously. When I was reading the book I pictured him played by a friend of mine because he has a very similar personality in real life. His name is Mahershalalhashbaz Ali (yeah...we call him Ali) and he was on the 4400 for a while, he's done a bunch of TV stuff, he was in Benjamin Button (he was the guy who adopts the oldbaby) and he's gonna be in the new Predators movie coming out on friday (That big black guy you saw in the trailers? that's him)

anyways, that was my bid for Sazed. I told him he ought to look into the role once the project gets to that stage of development, but that's my own limited opinion. I'm curious to see if anyone else had someone in mind that they just HAVE to have play Sazed.

Anyone?

I was gonna mention that, but I wasn't sure if an adaptation of a beloved animated series was the same as a beloved novel series.

but if we were to widen the scope, I could say that Wanted was butchered in much the same way. On the other side of the spectrum is V for Vendetta, which was a fantastic movie based on a graphic novel.

I guess...I just want it to be good, you know?

I'm reading Warbreaker, and I'm really enjoying Lightsong's sense of humor. It reminds me of Breeze in a lot of ways.

I forgot about that in the annotations, but I do remember it reminding me I should go back and reread those passages and look for the influence. Good call.

I still think that the Zane incident is an indicator that she can be impulsive though, simply because of how limited soothing and rioting can be. I think the key word is that his influence is subtle. Kelsier and Breeze both taught her that emotional allomancy is about enhancing what people are already feeling. In that moment, then and there when Vin downed that atium, the stress level was at a point where subtle influence would have meant nothing. Her own adrenaline would be overpowering everything. in THAT situation, the impulsive act of swallowing the bead was her own.

you're right, I am starting to feel tired of stretching to find ways to ruin this movie. I guess its because deep down, I really really want it to not be ruined.

Its the sort of thing where it could go the way of the Lord of the Rings, and be a reflection of the books in a way that is very very good, or it could be like...Percy Jackson.

For the love of all things holy and crushingly unholy, Percy Lord-Ruler-Lovin' Jackson.

@ Pewterarm - Kiera Knightly is probably too old, and definitely too emaciated.

I have, however, had a brilliant revelation:

Vin shall be played by the lovely and incredibly talented Ms. Megan Fox. There can be no other!

Elend, of course, will be played by Shia LeBouff. An extra scene will be added to the script so he has an excuse to run from something dangerous shouting his delightful catchphrase, "NONONONONONO!"

the point about Zane's fake atium is actually a really good one. I'm saddened it slipped my mind. Seems like there's a growing base of evidence supporting Vin's actions.
