Advent Children
« on: May 04, 2006, 03:32:38 PM »
Finally found a copy.  We took a deparment trip to CostCo today at work and I got it there, pretty much all the other stores in the area were sold out.

We'll have to have a TWG movie night sometime to watch it.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

I wanna see that really bad.

I have never played 7 though, But I am getting caught up in the hype.

Anyone have a copy I can borrow and play?

I got it at WalMart for about 15 bucks and have really enjoyed it.  The second disc has a lot of fun features and the English dub is actually not bad, though, in my opinion, the Japanese with the subtitles is a little more clear at some points as far as meaning.

The animation work is beautiful.

I saw it ages ago. It's pretty, but is largely brainless. The plot manages to be both incomprehensible and predictable.

Fights are sort of impressive though.

Worth a rent.

If you go through all the special features, the director tells you that there is only 20 minutes of story in it.  But that doesn't matter cause the rest of the time looks way cool!  Though I've heard from a lot of people that the Japanese version makes a little more sense than the English.

The problem I had was that I knew pretty much what would happen, which boss battles in what order. But I had absolutely no idea why the plot was happening.

It was just about exactly what I expected it to be. I don't think the dubbing was bad at all, and I haven't watched the subtitles yet.

Anyway, say what you will about the plot, it's no more or less comprehensible than the game itself. On that score, it's a faithful sequel.

And the visuals... wow. What a beautiful movie.

The dubbing didn't sound that bad from the tiny bit I've allready seen, though I could see how the Japanese might make more sense due to dubbing and translations issues.  Ie you have to not only match the length of the dialouge to the mouth movements but you also have to make sure its not jibberish, that can be quite hard depending on the story.  Thats why the English language tracks useally are slightly different from the subtitles.

Never played the game. I've tried demos of the various FF games and they never gave me the slightest urge to buy them.

I don't know what the plot is in about half of the anime I've watched.
Of course, that does include Eva and FLCL....

The whole point of Eva and FLCL is not to be able to follow them.

Heh, what about the massive hang times, like when they are flying in the tunnel.  That is more unreal then a sword magically appearing.  I think Sephiroth's sword should have been called muramasa instead of masamune, that would have made more sense I think.
