What was your favorite one-hit wonder?
I would have to say mine is Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. . . . if you don't know what that is, youtube it, I guarantee you really DO know what it is. ha ha.
I just wanted to know what everyone else liked.
-
The 90's was the pinnacle of one-hit wonders.
Probably my favorite was "All for You" by Sister Hazel. 8)
-
No Rain by Blind Melon. My husband laughs because he says it is the cheeriest depressed song he has ever heard.
-
Those are both good song.
LOL Your husband is totally right readerMom. xD
-
One hit wonders you say? Well I have to go with Vanilla Ice "Ice Ice Baby".... :D
-
He had a few other hits. xP Like Having a Roni and that one song that I can never remember the name of. ha ha. And there was that song he did with ICP.
-
I'm going to say "The Rusted Wheel of Things" by David Downes, though it may never have received radio play. He produced two albums, but that song was the only one of his that really took off at all, I think, and it certainly could have made it to radio.
If that doesn't count, I'll say "Children", by Robert Miles. It was his only song that ever made it to mainstream radio in the US, even though he has also produced several albums.
-
"Tonight and the Rest of My Life" by Nina Gordon. I love that song.
-
Since the 80s were the golden age of one hit wonders, I look to them for my choice.
I was going to go with Dead Or Alive, but since he's a TWO hit wonder (Right Round and Brand New Lover) he doesn't count. With that in mind, I'm going to go with Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Relax
-
Bon Jovi is a multi-hitter. (Yay for making up words.)
Dead or Alive
(These all reached #1 on the billboards)
Living on a Prayer
It's My Life
You Give Love A Bad Name
Bad Medicine
I'll be There For You
Blaze of GLory
<most recently>
(won a grammy for)
Who Says You Can't Go Home

I have that CD. I love Nina Gordon.
Some honorable mentions:
“What’s Up?” - 4-Non Blondes
“I’m Too Sexy” - Right Said Fred (Oh yes, for some reason it just gets stuck in your head)
“Flagpole Sitta” - Harvey Danger (I just love the pacing of this song)

Miyabi, When I saw your title and before I looked at the body of the thread I immediately thought of Tubthumping. It is a great song!

I'm glad I'm not the only person that absolutely loves it. I like all of their music though. They were a great undiscovered type of band. No one knew them.
-
They've got that eBay song now though, I've heard it on the radio a few times.
-
The only thing that comes to mind at the moment is:
"Inna gadda da vida"
-
"Dagosta din tei" is pretty good, too.

Did you ever see the video that came with the Japanese release of that CD?
It was all about misheard lyrics if you tried to hear Japanese while listening to it.
-
I did not see that. Is it online somewhere?
