i myself play on the ps2 its my precious so what do you play on. jez wondering
-
Noooooooo! No 1337 speak, no "l8er m8". We here at the TWG firmly beleive in keeping numbers in their rightful place, ie on the dice.
And Spriggan (Video Games guy) has a PS2, i have a X-Box and Mr Pleasington has a Gamecube. As far as i know, nobody else has a console.
Everyone owns a PC. Obviously.
-
Actually, I own a GC, but my brother is borrowing it right now. My roommate has an XBox, also. So we easily have all the major consoles represented now.
-
I used to have a Nintendo back when I was in elementary school, but I don't know where it is anymore.
-
I have an Atari 2600
Wonder if it still works
-
I also have a Dreamcast and 8-bit nintendo. Which by the way I just pickek up an orignal Metroid and Final Fantasy for 8). And for the DC I just got the Sega Smash pack that has such games as: Alterd beast (which Sega is remakeing soon), Golden Axe, Phanstey Star 2, Shonibi and Shining Force!!! It's retro gamming time
-
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Noooooooooo! l33t Speech around here! This is one of the few forums on the net where people actually have some sense and make an effort to write well (except Sprig of course :) )
Don't take away my bastion!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Back on topic, I play on a GC and a PC.
-
When Sega remakes Alterd Beast, do you think they'll fix that typo?
-
As long as they don't make an all-turd beast I'm down with that.
-
whats wrong with a all-turd beast the smell scares away the enemies
-
oh by the way sorry for the leet what was i thinking :-[ it will never happen again, honest. well i changed it and i hope peace is restored in the land ;D
-
I have a Super Nintendo. ... I wish I had a GameCube. I have a PC. I have a lot of fun with my PC.
-
the gamecube will get cheaper after e3 or sometime. it will the only cost about 100 bucks mayby even i will get one then
-
Phanstey Star ;D
I have a GC, DC, N64, Genesis, um used to have snes, GBA (if that counts), and my least favorite a ps1. Me and my brother have a pretty good collection of video games.
-
no that were talkin about retrogaming as well. i have a nes, snes, ps1, n64 and last but not least a coomodore 64 with thousands of games (needless to say none of them are originals, if you now what i mean ;))
-
Hey Garg! :o
I hope i wont have to remind you that my SNES skills far surpasses yours ok? :P
Im thinking of gettin a GC, but then again maybe not..
I might actually try to do something "normal" this summer instead of spending it infront of wc3 or d2 progaming ^_^^

I am impressed.
That post was totally illegible. Even Spriggan just misspells stuff...
-
yeah, that's nigh unto frightening
-
Correct me if I'm misreading something, but I don't see any l337. I know that some people freak out about it, but jeez.... Unless you count ps2, n64, but those are abbreviations... meh...
Well I have a ps2 and thats it. I sold the others long ago, though I do miss my 8-bit nintendo :( .
For the time being, I am resisting the X-box, though with Panzier Draggon Orta and Fable coming out, my resolve against the Evil Empire is waning -- anyone know if either of these will ever port to PC?
-
nope Microsoft paied a lot of cash to keep them X-box, just like Halo. But Fable could edventual come out on the PC but expect it to be at least 2 years after the x-box game comes out. Thats how long Microscoft likes to keep them exclusive.
-
I use a Gamecube. I only have three games on it, which I mostly play with my little sister. And I get the most fun out of it with all the trash talking that goes on.
-
I just use my PC. I've considered an X-Box, but every time I do I remember that I really only want to play one game on it, and I'm not going to buy a console and then pay for a game just for one game.
Now, if they came out with a good console style controller for the PC and started doing console games on PC, that I could get into.
-
I do not know why microsoft do not just release the smegging X-Box controller on the PC. That and vice city would just make my day.
-
At the risk of offending certain parties, I will just say that I prefer the PC. If I said any more I'd be deeply concerned for the welfare of this thread.
-
I play on a PC because it's what I have, and I don't want to spend the money to get a console. I think there are advantages to either.
or else I'm just wishy-washy on the issue. I'm not sure. Not a very hard-core gamer, am I?
-
Got a GC,Xbox,PSX,GB,GBC,GBA and N64. Parent's own an shop so I get games easy, we (my brother and me) basicly do the orders.
-
Wow, nice. I'm not too much of a game-hopper myself, but that'd give you access to quite a bit of variety. What have you been playing lately?
-
At moment i'm playing Metroid Prime and Golden Sun 2 and yeh the variety is cool. Get stuck play another game on another console
-
Well I've been extremely tempted to pick up a GAme Boy player for my Gamecube so I can play Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Metroid Fusion. But with a new Warmachine habit to feed, I can't bring myself to cough up the bucks.
On the pro side, I could play even my original game boy games on it: Sword of Hope, Spider Man, TMNT, Tetris, The GB Final Fantasy Games, Gargoyle's Quest, Kwirk, Dr. Mario, etc.
-
Square are actualy going to be remakeing some of those original GB Final Fanstasys for the GBA. But just FYI they weren't FF games in Japan. They were SaGa games. Then the final fantasy adventure (the one that played like zelda) is a prequal to Secret of Mana. They just renamed them Final Fantasy here so they could go off of the name and didn't have to market two different series that most didn't make it here to the states. SaGa series didn't come out here till the end of the PS1 and only two of the mana games came out here. (there's four if I remember correctly. 3 SNES ones and 1 PS1 game).
-
Final Fantasy Adventure II was one of the best RPGs released, period.
Such a great setting and storyline along with some fun combat options made for some of the most entertaining gameplay I've experienced.
-
The first mana game was actually on the gameboy. Its one of my favourite series really. Even though I only like number 2, Secret of Mana. I never got into Seiken 3
-
Seiken Densetsu (ie Legend of the holy sword) 3 never came out here in the states. Square wanted to release it but by the time it would have been done the PS1 would have been out for about 4 months or so. No one would have bought it since the SNES was dead by then.
-
Well, I bit the bullet and splurged. The way I see it, the Game Boy Player for Gamecube is a great investment that extends the range of available game by thousands.
I picked up Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows. Thought I'd give both a little play this afternoon, but Castelvania sucked me in and wouldn't let go. I'd forgotten how much I missed the 2D games of my youth. Too bad GBA is the only platform that makes them anymore.
Golden Sun, Metroid Fusion, and Advance Wars are on the buy list.
-
But remember, Seiken 3 was dumped to a ROM file and translated by a group of fans before being released on the interenet. If you want to play it, you can do it that way.
Not that I've done it, or would advocate doing it...
-
Interesting fact about ROMs and such (as I understand it). If it hasn't been released in the country you're in, there's no license for your area, and you aren't breaking copyright laws by downloading it.
I have a friend who does something similar with manga. As long as the mangas aren't released in the states by the copyright holders, they're allowed to fan translate them and release them free on the internet.
I could be wrong, of course, but that's what I heard.
-
It dosen't have to do with weither it's been released or not Tage, but if someone owns the rights to the said item. With manga and some anime your right. With VG's you're treading on thinner ice. It has to deal with developers/publishers. If a developer is the publisher (as with the case with Square, sega, capcom etc...) then they hold the rights to release it anywere they can (ie have a busniess licence). So any Square game that dosen't come out here is still licenced here. Also remeber that the Japanese love to use US international copyrights, so most VG's are copyrighted in both at the same time (why do you think there are multiple copyright dates on most Japanese VG)
With 3rd part licences it can be different. Sometimes the publisher only buys the rights to distribute it in one market (ie Japan or the US). If that's the case then there are no legal owners of the game here in the US, unless they used one of our fancey Copyrights.
So if you've got a concern about ROM's, unless you own the game it's illegal. Just to be on the safe side. Despite what people on ROM sites say, I find ROM's to be as illegal as MP3's that you don't own. Or downloading unlicenced software. Don't do it unless you OWN a copy of the game.

Huh. Despite the fact that I, as a general rule, don't believe anything Sprig says, that actually kinda makes sense. Ah well.
