Wow.
I wish him great success in fighting it.
-
I hope it doesn't progress quickly. I would like to see him publish some more.
-
I saw this last night. Sadness! I like his "I am not dead" bit, though.
-
It made me sad when I heard this. Pratchett is a wonderful author and I don't know what I would do without his books. I wish him luck and strength in this trial. (and I hope he gets a few more books out, but I'm a little on the selfish side) :)

I heard about this several days ago... It makes me so sad for him. I can't imagine a worse fate. I used to work in a Nursing Home and it was always terribly sad and hard to see the Alzheimer's patients. I think I would rather kick the bucket quickly than go that way.
-
Indeed. My boss's mom has the disease too. Well, not early onset. But she has Alzhiemer's. She had Thanksgiving with him and his sister and the next day didn't even remember any of it. I've seen pics of brains affected by this disease, and it is frightening. The centers of their brains just begin to dissapear.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
-
Brain diseases in general are really, really hard on both patient and family. I wish him all the best.

Here's to hoping for a long life! He seems pretty upbeat still. Can't imagine having to fact something like this, and yet still remain cheerful. More power to him.
-
I don't know if I wish him a long life. Living with Alzheimer is difficult. What's sad for me is that he probably will live a long life, but he'll have to stop writing long before he actually dies. I guess it depends on what memories and other cognitive abilities he loses first. I hope his personality stays intact.
-
I never cared for his work, except for Going Postal. Still, brain degeneration is probably the worst thing that can happen to an author. Forgetting you wrote a chapter then rewriting it would be the worst.
-
I think forgetting you were President of the United States might be worse like Reagan did. IMHO.
I'd rather go like Jordan then this.

All I can really say is I am sorry to see this kind of thing happen to anyone. But, his attitude and upbeat mindset will undoubtedly help him and his family, friends, and fans, deal with this issue. I wish him the best.
