It's time to plan this sucker. The best night is looking like Thursday, and thanks to EUOL's class we'd be starting the movie at 8:30 or 9. We could do games or food before that. Is this groovy with everyone? Make yourselves heard!
-
Starting the movie at 9 would work best for me (have class), I wouldn't even bother with games we're 0/2 on playing them at TWG parties since Rifftrax.
-
Heh. That's because you haven't seen SW starships yet! :) I'm bringing my set, in case we ever get an opening to play. Either at a lunch between sessions at LTUE, or some other time.
I'll be there for the Rifftrax, and anything after something like 5pm works for me.
-
The thing is Stacer people come to these not planning to play games or are people who wouldn't normally show up if we were playing games so there's a real lack of intrest in those there for playing. They want to talk and watch a movie, also the fact we're doing this on a Thursday at 9pm pretty much guarantees as soon as the movie is over everyone is going to jet (I know I am) and even if something happens earlier (like games at 8, movie at 9) most won't show up until 9.
It's pretty sad, but games at TWG parties are pretty much over since many of the people who come don't want or like playing games.
-
Oh, I didn't mean *at* the party. I meant, if any of us who would be interested in seeing/playing the SW minis are around at the same time while I'm there over the weekend, I'm bringing them to Utah. Sorry for the miscommunication.
-
Can I just say that I rock? I surfed the official LTUE website: http://ltue.byu.edu/home.html and found that they are using the art I created the first year I was involved with that thing.
I did the dragon breathing fire up the tale of the rocket. I'm proud of it.
-
Skar,
I see that picture all the time at LTUE. You have quite the legacy!
I'm another vote for Thursday on this thing, though if Stacer's flight leaves on Sun, then I'd vote for Sat.
-
Yeah, that's the trouble. They still haven't given me my itinerary yet. I really don't want to leave Saturday night, simply because it'll be a long, long day--I'm on the second to last panel ending at 5 pm, and if I have to go straight to the airport, I'm not going to be a happy girl.
But I'm waiting on the committee to let me know when my travel plans are. I'll let you guys know when I find out.
-
I'm good with whatever, but I might try to heckle someone for a ride if it'll be right after EUOL's class.
-
Wow, teachers can get professional development credit for attending LTUE. I know some teachers that are close to a lane change that would like to know about that deal.
So Thursday or Friday night is the best night for me.
-
I'm assuming this is going to be at Nessa's again?

I'm assuming this is going to be at Nessa's again?
Let me chat with Mark first and I'll let y'all know.

Well I'll actually be at LTUE for the first time since 2001 (when I helped Fell with something there) and on the Website panel with EUOL, not sure if I'm going to take the full day off or just take 2 hours off for it, so there's the possibility of sometime Friday.
-
I would like to play something, and I'm open to suggestions. Maybe we can get some gaming in before the movie.
-
I would love to try Twilit Imperium but Thursdays just don't work out well for be to get to this in time to play (since it takes at least an hour from what I've heard and I believe that the 15th is a midterm in my 3d Modeling class), hopefully if Stacer doesn't leave until Sunday we can play then.
-
It is confirmed: it's at my house.
If you need an address or directions, send me a personal message or email.
We do not have the DVD of Reign of Fire. Can Fell or Sprig be in charge of making sure we have this movie and the rifftrax available, please?
-
I have the DVD. It's Christian Bale, after all. (And I'm guessing there will be a lot of "I'm BATMAN" jokes on the rifftrax). :D
I may need to do some gymnastics to find a babysitter, so the sooner we pick a time, the better. I'd prefer to have it on Friday night, if at all possible, so I won't be juggling sleep schedules for a school/early-church-the-next-morning night for me or my munchkins, but I'll try to be there no matter what time we choose.
-
Christian Bale? No way. I'm totally there!
Though, I already was planning. Any night or day works for me except Sunday. I'll be driving home then.
-
Okay! I have an itinerary. I get in on Wednesday--but am booked for that evening, though I might be available for lunch with someone, depending. We'll see.
And I leave Sunday morning, so that means I'll be available for a Saturday night!
So, if Saturday works better for Rifftrax, we can plan it that way.
-
I prefer Thursday or Friday.
-
I prefer Saturday, but I could probably go to anything.
-
Well, since Nessa's our host, we should go with her preferences. The only one I know who can't make it Friday is EUOL. Anyone else? Or we could just do it Thursday, because I don't hear any strong objections to it other than from Oldie, who says she'll be there either way.
So, perhaps EUOL and Oldie should battle it out? :D
-
Well I know EUOL, Fell and I prefer saturday and I personally would rather do it Saturday at EUOL's then Tursdays at Nessas so, ya, there might me more people that need to battle things out.
-
I probably won't come on a Thursday, but probably would come on a Saturday, especially if that meant starting earlier. Thursdays are my tired nights, and since I've been sick I mostly crash then. But don't plan things around me.
-
Gah! When I was planning this, it was on the basis that it was Thursday or Friday. People, DECIDE! I can see if we can host on Saturday. I'm not sure.
-
I vastly prefer Thursday.
-
Nessa, if it's possible for you to host it Saturday, now that I know my itinerary and that I'm staying through Saturday, I think it would be lovely if you could. But if you can't, then that's a deciding factor. We could always do it at someone else's house, too, but since you've offered to host it I don't want to take away from that.
From what I can tell from the thread, other than Skar vastly preferring Thursday and Oldie hoping for Friday but still willing to come, Saturday appears to be the best day for anyone stating a preference. Myself, I'm open for whichever day works for the most people.
-
either Thursday 0r Saturday works fine for me, but I need directions to Nessa's. (If you're uncomfortable giving directions to a stranger ask Fell, Sprig, EUOL, or St. E for a reference.) Either post or send to n8hatfield at hotmail dot com. Thanks!
You know we could do both Thurs and Sat if people want. My place (in north Orem) is open whenever.
-
I can host Saturday, if that's the best day for everyone.
Fell can give directions to my house.
-
Saturday it is. What time?
-
7:00 or later is best for me.
-
Saturday. Done. See you there. ;D
-
The good thing about it being on Saturday is that Fish is coming! And I have yet to meet her. And Stacer, too! Yay!
-
Should we have an earlier time seperate fron Nessa's for those who want to play games or hang out (eat or whatever)?
-
We should get together sometime to play Star Wars ships, and we need to make sure to invite Morag--if I play without him, after he's spent weeks trying to get me to try it, he'll kill me.
As for other games, all I ever want to play is Twilight Imperium, so if four or five people have about six hours to kill, let me know.
-
Maybe say Saturday at my place from 4? That would be plenty of time to play SWM and Wii and maybe pizza or something.
-
I'd love to, but I'm in panels until 5. I'd be able to come over anytime after that, depending on how long it takes me to get out.
-
The good thing about it being on Saturday is that Fish is coming! And I have yet to meet her. And Stacer, too! Yay!
Me too, me too!
Well, I'll be excited to meet you in person. ;)
-
Oh, Chimera, too? Yay! Us girls have a fighting chance to outnumber the guys!
-
I don't know if I can , in good conscience, go to a "geek" event where girls outnumber the guys. It just seems wrong.
-
Racist.
-
Yeah, Skar, you'd better watch it! Your wife is coming too, isn't she? ;)
So Nessa, (or anyone else) Should we plan to contribute (food-wise) to the Reign of Fire party? Not that I only care about food ... I just thought I'd ask if any plans have been made because EUOL sometimes forgets to communicate such things ... and I really like food!
-
I can bring a Marie Calendars Razzleberry Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream. It's one of Fish's and my favorite treats. If nobody minds that it is not homemade, of course. ;)
Or I can do salad. I do great salads.
-
I demand that the pie and the ice cream--and the containers--be homemade. We are not barbarians.
-
I'm all about the store-bought goodies when I'm traveling, so count on something like that from me. Perhaps chips (though I suppose I won't be able to find any Stacy's ;)) or something like that?
-
Treats are fine. Having dinner last time was a little crazy, so if people want to bring treats/snacks for eating during the movie, I'd rather do that. I will have drinks, plates, cups, spoons, etc.
-
That sounds like a great idea.
-
Anything specific you want to avoid? I don't know if we'll be eating in a kitchen area, or where we're watching the movie. If you're worried about spills, we should try to bring things that aren't messy.
-
We'll probably be eating in the area where we watch the movie. I would probably avoid wet things, like ice cream. But cookies, brownies, popcorn, stuff like that is good. Otherwise, I don't care. I mean, there's nothing you guys do that will be worse than what my kids have done to that floor.
-
Oh, I don't know. We can be pretty frightening some times.

Like, say, a HOT cup of noodles?
Sorry Spriggan, I couldn't resist...
-
Next time I'll spill them on you.
-
Uh, oh, I'm going to need the story about this one.

That link didn't work quite right for me, so here is one that should take you right to it.

I certainly was impressed by Spriggan's reaction (or lack thereof) considering the temperature of the soup.
And it made the couch smell so yummy.
-
D'oh. I'm not sure why it's not working. I so fail at linkage.
-
Sorry guys, change of plans, I'm not coming to town. :'( Sorry I won't get to meet Nessa and Pemberly and others, plus see all of my TWG friends. Everyone enjoy LTUE and the Rifftrax and eat lots of yummy food.
At least I won't have to endure the abysmally cold weather. /trying to look on the positive side
-
It's in the 50-60s this week.
-
Not helping.
-
Nessa,
Would it be a problem if I brought my three boys on Saturday? I don't intend to have them watch the Rifftrax with us, so I'm wondering if it would be ok for them to either play with your munchkins or play GameCube/PS2 in another room. (Or both.)
-
Yep, that's fine. I'm sure my kids would love someone to play with.
-
The most recent time announcement I can find is Nessa saying that 7 or later is best for her. Let's make that official and say 7pm for sure. Anyone who doesn't know here she lives, but does know where I live, meet at my house at 6:45.
-
And for those of us who don't know either?
Maybe someone could PM me?

I emailed you at your BYU account.

7 is fine.

Thanks for hosting that, Nessa! I had a blast. Too bad I couldn't make it earlier to hang out before the movie, but I'm glad we all had a chance to chat after, despite running out of things to say. (I think for me, it was sheer voice and mind exhaustion. While sleeping that night at my friend's, I kept thinking that I was already home and the disappointment of waking up still away from home was kind of funny. "I still have to fly back tomorrow!") It was a long, though fun, weekend. Pictures up at my LJ (http://slwhitman.livejournal.com) and more to come over the course of the week as I recap my main address and answer some questions people have asked.
-
Yes, it was quite fun. Another thanks from me.
-
I thought it was funnier than Ep 1, but that's my opinion. I had forgotten how terrible Reign of Fire was.
Next time, if we do it at my house, it will be warmer and we can BBQ. Mark and I were hoping they would have a Wrath of Khan by then... ;D
-
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
-
I doubt we'll se a Wrath of Khan, but they do have Star Trek 5, Daredevil, Fellowship of the Ring, XXX, and The Fifth Element. Any of those could be awesome.
And I agree, this was far funnier than Episode 1. Thanks for hosting it, Nessa, and it was good to see Stacy and Jade Knight and others we don't often see.
-
I'd rather not see Fellowship get torn apart, unless their simply mocking that particular dramatization, and not Tolkien's originals…
-
So, who walked away with my DVD?
-
Fish.
-
Yeah, I've got it here with your manga. Course, I would have to actually see you in order to give them to you.
-
Oldie's boys also left behind a mini-CD game. Just FYI.
-
(my sorta late post...) Thanks for hosting at your house Nessa! My wife and I had a great time, and it was great to meet everyone that we have never seen in real life. Sorry we had to take off so fast, I had to get up really early Sunday. We are looking forward to the next one, and hopefully we will be able to stick around longer and get to know everyone else even better.
Also, thanks to Spriggan and everyone else who helped out! We had a blast!
