I agree with most of SE's and Jeffe's, but I don't think I even recognize most of Fuzzy's. I wish I knew Jam's Miles Davis pick--I like him. And as far as Every Breath You Take--that's not a love song, that's a stalker song. And I'm with Fuzzy on Don't Stand So Close to Me--it's a Lolita song.

These are the nostalgia songs that make me melt--for the most part. If my husband is smart, he'll listen.

"Glory of Love" Peter Cetera.  C'mon. If were gonna talk 80s . . .

"Being Without You" Chicago. Ok, so I dedicated this to a friend in 4rd grade when she moved away. It still works.

"Par Avion" Mike + The Mechanics. This is a song I think everyone should hear.

"Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" Genesis, and while we're on the subject

"Groovy Kind of Love" Phil Collins. Yeah.

"With or Without You" U2. Need I explain?

"On Your Shore" Enya. This song is off of her Watermark CD and is Enya at her romantic best.

"River" Moya Brennan. Unless you're a Clannad and Moya Brennan fan, you probably have never heard this song. It's one of my absolute favorites. It had me in tears this afternoon.

"Something About You" Level 42. Trust me. You've heard this one before.

"Mad About You" Sting

"Angelia" Richard Marx.

My father in law gave my husband the Marvin Gaye CD with "Let's Get it On" on it, and after reading the CD sleeve, my husband nearly threw the CD out the window. The man had some very hippie and strange ideas.

Notice that I didn't include "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx. That was on purpose.

I'm a Clannad fan, but not enough to be able to pick a song out of a lineup. I should check it out. I purposely left out my Kate Rusby (and other British folk) songs out for 2 reasons: no one would know them, and there were too many.

I'm totally in love with Moya Brennan's new album "Two Horizons." She changed the spelling of her name from Maire just for this album, probably in the hopes of getting a slightly larger fan base.

And just so you know how geeky of a Clannad fan I am, I have their first album (which includes Enya before she left for her solo career), Fuaim, on tape. It's entirely in Irish--even the sides on the tape are labeled in Irish.

I liked their old stuff . . . Newgrange, Theme from Harry's Game, Skellig, etc, but I really fell in love with them during "Anam" and "Banba."

But if you're looking for some good Clannad-ish stuff (especially since they haven't been doing much as a group lately except releasing box sets), get Maire's stuff. Perfect Time is a Celtic-Christian religious album, which has some good songs on it. I like Whisper to the Wild Water, and her first solo album is good. There are some really good songs on Misty-Eyed Adventures, but the first song begins with some really bad harmonies.

Anyway. There's my Clannad-Maire Brennan fandom digression for tonight. Remind me to play some of Two Horizons for you this weekend.

My new Ipod arrives tomorrow or the next day, so I'll be able to play Kate Rusby for you, too. :)

Now if I could only sleep.

Old One, Never play any Chicago/Cetera around me if you don't want me to go ballistic. I find him to be the purveyor of the most unadulterated schlock ever marketed as "music."

Also, I'm shocked and appalled that there are Peter Gabriel haters yet fans of LATE Genesis here. That does serious damage to the my optimism for the future path of music.

Clearly, you don't listen to rap. Not that I would encourage it.

Once again, if you listened to rap, or pop for that matter, you wouldn't have any optimism left.

no, I say that about late genesis and Peter Cetera being familiar with rap.
It beats country.
