That just sucks.

Let me help you to see things in perspective, I'm in Holland and recently got a letter from the company I preordered from that they don't expect to be able to deliver before the 27th. Of November, that is.

Rand killing Min doesn't prove anything...the Age of Legends vs. the 3rd Age are half a wheel turn apart not a whole turn. As to "if he had to rank them" he doesn't and couldn't the golden threads prove that. Not to mention that RJ shows us that he wants the other 2 to block out their bonds when he is screwing the third, b/c Mrs. third is the only person in the world at that moment.

Isn't it so that the wheel has 7 spokes or something and the age of legends and the current age are just one spoke apart? Not half a turn of the wheel by far? I think this Herid Fell (or something, the philosopher guy Min liked) explained some stuff about that...

Perhaps Rand dying but becoming one of the dream world characters (like birgitte) is a nice way to fulfill the "the live he must die" or whatever it was thingie?

Just finished it :)

I'm not going to spoil anything, but it was good, although not much happened really.

I haven't listened to it yet, but the audiobook version of TGS chapter 2 is now online at tor.com, free after registration!

Thought I'd open a thread for discussion, I'll listen to it when I get home in about an hour or so. Skipped through to see how long it was (about 45 minutes) and I heard something about Egwene... Can't wait!

When I read the glossary for LoC, saw that there was an entry for Moiraine Damodred, and it was something along the lines of, "An Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah, supposedly dead," that was more than enough to tell me that she was coming back at some point. Which made me very happy, because Moiraine = Awesome.

Just a thought, but for Min's viewings about Rand's not death (however that works) to work out, all three of his Wonder Girls have to stay alive. So it won't be any of them. That leaves Nynaeve as the only other person I can think of that's particularly close to him. I hope she dies. That would make me very, very happy.

If Cadsuane died, I'd be quite thoroughly depressed. She's pretty awesome, in my opinion. Although she can be a tad annoying at times.

Perhaps Cadsuane teaches Rand to cry (or laugh) by dying. Ooh I would love that.

Ah, now I've bought it anyway because I just couldn't bear the suspense  :P

I understand it's only 3 dollars which is not much, but I've pre-ordered the hardcover for a whooping 28 euros (that's 41 dollar!), so I think I'm supporting Brandon quite enough with this.

And indeed, I'm not forced to buy the prologue, and I won't. It's the principle of the thing.

On a related subject; am I the only one who doesn't want to pay for the prologue twice? I mean, I've pre-ordered the book, which supposedly includes the prologue, so I'm not going to pay 3 dollar for a digital version of something I've ordered on paper anyway...

Feels like a rip-off to me.

TMan, swearing isn't viewed well on the forums.  You should edit your post please.

I'm sorry, I fail to see how you can consider the human anatomy as swearing in this context, since I don't refer to a human by use of the word in question but I obviously really refer to the bodypart we all have. If the mods agree this is swearing they are free to change it to err... armpits? feet? eardrums?

"Lower opening of the digestive tract" just doesn't sound as good.

They probably plan on a one game per movie type of thing. Just as is done with the Harry Potter movies/games. In my experience, such movie-based games are usually a quite boring version of the movie were you'll have to walk through the story yourself.

But who knows, maybe they'll do better :)

Movies dont make good games... Games dont make good movies..... Fact!

Opinion.

That's your opinion ;)

Edit: Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks. [Or they all stink, probably.]  ;D

No, she's not. In fact, if I was a character in the story, and knew the truth about her, I would keep well clear of her.

I wouldn't, for obvious reasons :P

I think we have to conclude that
a) there's people who wait with sex until marriage, are happy to do so and that's fine.
b) there's people who don't wait, are happy to do so, and that's fine as well.

What I'm trying to say is that we're all happy, and the one thing that would make others unhappy is forcing your way of life to them. I'm not saying anyone here does that, but I'm trying to say that neither side will ever be convinced of the other
Or b) there's people who don't wait, are happy to do so at the time, and that's fine for them until eventually they or someone else gets hurt through their actions.

Why do you do this? I've done my very best in all of my posts to consider everyones viewpoints and feelings and not hurt them, criticize them, or call my own moral superior. I've laid down my personal experience, I've told you I'm happy right now, why do you keep failing to believe or even acknowledge that this may be my own truth? You are in fact judging me by this, and I must say I'm very disappointed at that.

I'll try to leave it at this.

I too find Perrin and Faile highly annoying. Perrin because he's just too dumb, why can't he get what his wife wants from him for hundreds of pages? It's in plain sight! Faile because she's got too much of "if you don't know what I'm talking about I'm not going to explain." It's just out of proportion.

This is all getting a bit too much for me on an early Friday night after a busy week, although it's probably somewhere midday for most of you. I'm going to keep this post short, but there's somethings I'd like to say anyway.

First of, Ookla, I've looked up the wikipedia article you're quoting, and you fail to quote

Quote
Some people have claimed that those who live together before marriage can report having less satisfying marriages and have a higher chance of separating. A possible explanation for this trend could be that people who cohabit prior to marriage did so because of apprehension towards commitment, and when, following marriage, marital problems arose (or, for that matter, before marriage, when relationship problems arose during the cohabitation arrangement), this apprehension was more likely to translate into an eventual separation. It should be noted this model cites antecedent apprehension concerning commitment as the cause of increased break ups and cohabitation only as an indicator of such apprehension. Another explanation is that those who choose not to cohabit prior to marriage are often more conservative in their religious views, a mindset that might prevent them from divorcing for religious reasons despite experiencing marital problems no less severe than those encountered by former cohabitants. In addition, the very act of living together may lead to attitudes that make happy marriages more difficult. The findings of one recent study, for example, suggest "there may be less motivation for cohabiting partners to develop their conflict resolution and support skills." (One important exception: cohabiting couples who are already planning to marry each other in the near future have just as good a chance at staying together as couples who don’t live together before marriage).[11]

I see here three possible explanations for the study, all three of which you fail to mention, instead giving your own one. Only the last of these three suggests something applying to your argument. Let's not forget that a relation does not imply causality.

Now, I think we'll find as much studies contradicting each other on this subject as we could find studies contradicting each other on say the influence of violence in video games (that's a joke, please, let's not go there ;)). On the other hand, you'll find as many contradicting tales of people being happy doing one or the other. I know I'm happy, and I don't regret I had sex with my previous girlfriend, nor do I regret having lived together with her. It was a marvelous time.

However, I'm having a marvelous time with my current girlfriend as well, and yes, I do hope to marry her some day.

I'm not saying anyone here does that, but I'm trying to say that neither side will ever be convinced of the other, so I really think further discussion is quite useless. It's going more in the direction of individual argument bashing anyway (of which I'm guilty as well). I think the only fruitful way to continue this is if we all listened with open mind and just gave our own opinions, trying to learn from each other instead of trying to convert. I do not think this is the place for that though.

I'd be happy to continue a discussion about sex and religion by PM or other means though, if anyone's genuinely interested.
