I predict this movie will either kick butt or suck hardcore.

I predict, that since this is coming from the director of Daredevil, it will be a little better, but quite possibly just as bad. Maybe Marvel should take a little time to itself and back off the Comic-to-Movie thing for a bit, eh?

well, my biggest pause, actually, is at Nicholas Cage. The only things I've really liked him in are Raising Arizona and Trapped in Paradise. The second of which is pretty silly and I probably mostly liked because I watched it with my two brothers. I just can't really make the jump to him as a superhero, even though he's been in action flicks before. If there's one that won't offend my sensibilities though, it's Ghost Rider.

I really liked him in National Treasure - he pulled off the role of geeky action hero quiet well. Ghost Rider sounds really interesting, i'd be curious to see what its about. But it seems like the role is somewhat similar to NT...

I haven't seen NT still. like I said, it can be really cool. We can do the flaming skull and flaming wheels like Ghost Rider has with today's sfx. so it shouldn't be technical difficulties. Costuming isn't *too* difficult to do... leather pants and biker jacket with spikes... the bike may still suck though, and who knows if Nick can be trained to make it look like he knows how to use that chain.

But there's still story difficulties. Are they going to do a good story. GR isn't really a demon, he's a spirit of Vengeance. His power, beyond some extraordinary strength and resilience, is to look people in the eyes and they suddenly recognize the consequences of all their evil actions, reducing them to whimpering piles of human. Sometimes the guilt just burns them up. Hopefully the filmmakers haven't reduced that to demonic possession like Yahoo did.  And hopefully they've got someone interesting for him to fight (the comics often did not).

Cage's best roles have been things like The Rock, where he got to be sardonic and nerdy while still doing action. Put him in something where he has to be tough, like Gone in 60 Seconds, and it just doesn't work as well. Ghost Rider is more of a tough-guy role, and I don't know how well it will work.

I have heard that Blackheart will be the villian for the flick.

that's a lot cooler than it usually appeared in the comics. I'm all for it.

For some reason, I re-read the whole thread. They can very easily make the host guy nerdly. So perhaps they can play that up. Here's hoping for a good GR movie!
