Veronica Mars
« on: April 12, 2005, 11:07:13 PM »
Only 4 episodes left of the season. Anyone else watch this? I had to watch it for my YA class and got totally hooked. It's a UPN show, on Tuesday nights.

I've seen a little here and there. Not too bad.

It's my Mom's favorite show (and virtually all of my aunts and uncles as well) but I've never seen an episode.

Fell, I don't suppose your mom liked it enough to tape it? I'd like to do a paper on it but it's only in its first season--not available on DVD, obviously.

She tapes all of her TV shows, but then tapes over them the following week. Sorry.

I'm an avid fan of the show. The cast was in town last week doing autographs at a local mall. Unfortunately I didn't find out about it til about 8 hours before hand.
I was able to head over on my lunch hour but only had about 10 minutes to spare before having to leave so I didn't get to stand in line with all the teeny-boppers and wait for autographs :(
Kristen is starring in a musical production of Reefer Madness airing Sat night on Showtime. She's one actress I'd like to see go places, she's very good.

Yeah, I saw signs they were going to be in town, but I didn't realize when it was going to be. A classmate mentioned last night that they'd been in town last weekend.

Just out of curiousity, where did you see the signs? Mix 98.5 was there so I assume they had a hand in it even though I never heard them promote the event.

Must have been either on the T somewhere or in the mall where I work (at the B&N in the Pru). I don't range very far nowadays. Barely even cross the river but once a week to attend church.

I was happy to hear it's getting a second season. Apparently, no one at UPN was. They're moving it up against Lost next season :(
Way to go guys!

Well, I suppose that doesn't matter to me, because I keep forgetting when Lost is on, but Tuesday nights worked well. I was planning on watching Lost when it comes out on DVD.

I suppose in theory the fans will keep it going anyway. After all, it did get this far!
It's really a toss up for me which was my favorite new show this past season, Veronica or Lost.

I've heard of Lost but I haven't heard of Veronica Mars. What is the premise of it?

www.veronicamars.com

Veronica used to be one of the 09ers, a select group of kids in a stratified town (you're either really rich or you work for the really rich) in California. Then her boyfriend breaks up with her (which is how she got in with the 09ers) and her best friend, Lily, is murdered. Her dad was the sheriff, but got voted out because he went after Lily's family. So he became a private detective, and Veronica works for him after school. But she's also trying to figure out who killed Lily, on the side, and she does some private detectiving at school on the side for friends.

We had to watch an episode of it for my YA class (we integrated TV and film into it, because teens are very multimedia-oriented), and I totally got hooked. It's a very smart show, not your average teen soap. Lots of mystery, kind of edgy (sometimes a little too much for my taste, but usually okay).

I loved it so much I tried to do a paper on it, but I had a hard time seeing all the episodes in order in time to do it, so I ended up writing on anachronisms of girl characters in historical fiction instead. Anyway, highly recommend it.
