Lemmings don't do that. It's a myth.

Don't you people watch David Attenborough?

Who?

Actually, I've heard that (that lemmings jumping off cliffs is a myth), but it is so ingrained in our culture that I use it anyway.

I can modify it to say "...and plunge off a cliff like a bunch of mindless zombies..." but I think I like lemmings better.  ;)

I much prefer the idea of mindless zombies.
After all, they're mindless. I'm sure the lemmings wouldn't enjoy it.

I shall ignore the Attenborough aberration...
In this thread at least.

Really, who is he? I don't know. I know plenty of popculture stuff, but little of the actual world. Did he do some sort of documentary on lemmings?

Yes, among about a thousand million other things. He's British. His narration style is unmistakable.

One time I told EUOL that whenever I see an ad for a nonfiction/documentary movie, I feel like I ought to want to see it, but I really don't. This is perhaps why David Attenborough's identity and accomplishments have escaped me.

But now I know. Ignorance is only a malady if you persist in it.

Hmm. I still find it strange that people *exist* that haven't heard of him. Anyone else?

Yes - everyone should know who attenbourgh is. Great narration style - consise and clear. The sort of voice you wish every teacher had.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Aha!! See! See! Told you so!!
He gets a little tedious, after a while though. You get tired of being endlessly reassured.

Maybe it is a British/Australian thing. Are there any Americans who know him and think it is ludicrous that I don't?

He needs to be cloned and do every documentry on anything ever, so we don't need to put up with anyone else who looks bad in comparison.

JP: No. One is enough. Can you imagine, *hoardes* of Attenboroughs, doing their little hand gestures and predictably placed emphasis and speaking in superlatives all the time? I'd go mad.

Never heard of 'im. Maybe he's just not important enough to be on American TV.

Mindless zombies if the problems. If they had minds (to eat) they wouldn't be rampaging.
