But Jeffe, you must have many children, or else who will pay for my Social Security when I am old and childless.

I think we should start a Seuessian thread just for our own amusement.

Post by: Maxwell on May 24, 2004, 09:26:03 PM
congrats
I'd comment on the child thing, but to you guys I still am one, that and I'd be biased seing as my oldest sister is pregnant with her second child and I myself am one of five..
Title: Re: 1st anniversery
Post by: The Holy Saint, Grand High Poobah, Master of Monkeys, Ehlers on May 24, 2004, 09:41:06 PM
that makes approximately no sense.
Title: Re: 1st anniversery
Post by: Maxwell on May 24, 2004, 09:52:21 PM
uh I have three sisters and a brother and my oldest sister has one son and is preganant with a second, what part doesnt make sense

Post by: The Holy Saint, Grand High Poobah, Master of Monkeys, Ehlers on May 24, 2004, 09:55:17 PM
the part where it's relevant. Particularly to making you "biased."
Beign a child or having relatives who have children is hardly unusual. i mean everyone here was a child once. most of us have siblings, and many of us have siblings who have children.
Also, what WAY would that make you biased? And what is there to be biased about?
Title: Re: 1st anniversery
Post by: Entsuropi on May 24, 2004, 09:58:53 PM
The part that doesn't make sense is where you appear to think that defying every known rule of English Grammar is acceptable. I talk to foreigners every day, from Iceland and Denmark on IRC, and they know how to do that. You are an American. At least try to act like you have some Anglo-Saxon blood in there, somewhere.
Title: Re: 1st anniversery
Post by: Maxwell on May 24, 2004, 09:58:53 PM
I dont tyhink I can present a reasonable arguement for jeffe having kids or not, seeing as I am one and dont fully understand his financial situation or how much children actually cost to feed clothe etc. that and I would obviously tell him to have a lot because most of think the way we were raised is the best and my parents had a lot of kids so I think it's a good plan because my parents are happy and my siblings and I are happy and there are enough of us that we can side with each othe against the other two or three and no matter where we live there is always at least one of us around to help the other.
I'm not an american entropy, I've only spoken english for five years and grammar is never something I've been able to grasp well.
Title: Re: 1st anniversery
Post by: The Holy Saint, Grand High Poobah, Master of Monkeys, Ehlers on May 24, 2004, 10:05:03 PM
so what you mean to say is that you're ignorant about hte raising of children. Not that you're biased.

Also, i don't believe that. I've been to Ireland. isn't that where you're from? I even went out into the little places where tourists don't go. And they ALL spoke English. After five years in the US, you should know English anyway.

Yeah, because my Irish relatives all speak Gaelic or somesuch thing.

Oh, wait - they don't. They actually speak, wait for it, English!

And on that note, I bring you this quote :

Quote
<+HorseHam> i no speek inglish (^_^)

This from a Icelander who could type perfect English. Seems deeply appropriate at this point.

I say we stop this arguement, seeing as we've already had before... anyways, believe what you will. and jeffe, congrats again

Well lets just nip this in the bud now...

Gentlemen you cant fight in here, this is the war room!

Thanks everyone who's concerened about the number of offspring I chose to have or not have. I appreciate your candor.
However if my offspring are a source of argument, playful or not, please stop arguing about it.

Now on to the Suess, my fine fretting friends, lets twist all the right words and bend the right trends. A marriage is fine, when the big days about, but a forum is not the best place for you to bug out. You argue and gnash and make fun of your writing but all the day long you jackals keep biting. So let go of your squabble and sit and pipe down, or I'll ask Jam Paladin to lay the smack DOWN!

it wasn't the number of you children we were fighting about.

that part was for TFO, who seems to think I need a reason to have or not have kids.

Speaking of Seussian things, the Eric Carle picture book museum has a Dr. Seuss exhibit up right now. My friend from school and I will be going out to Amhearst or wherever it is in a couple weeks to see it. Report to come later if it's good.

Are you calling me a monkey? I'll have you know that I played no part in this war you speak of... ;D And if you're not referring to me, then I'm sorry I ever posted this.

I don't know if you're a monkey, but I love your new pic, and if you ever change it to something less cool, I will be forced to kill you.

What Jeffe said, except:

When you banter becomes bitter, and your finger's all a-twitter,
and Mad Dr. Jeffe needs me to act like a babysitter,

That's what you call an upset mod.

Im afraid I have to object
Please keep on the subject,
Congrats to the mad Doctor,
my pet Norf shouts out "Wokta!"
Actually, I'm confused,
and certainly amused,
I sound more like Gemm that Seuss,
So I must now say "Adieu!"

"adieu" and "seuss" do not rhyme. They share a vowel sound, but it doesn't work.

If Steve Irwin's accent is that of a typical Australian, then I have the properties of both a Brick and an Atomic Ninja made of cheese.

You're an Atomic Ninja brick made of cheese? That sounds awfully ineffective.

Hence the relation to Steve Irwin's over the top accent.

Fine, you want Suessian, here, I shall give it to you.

A Holiday Fit for the Day.

If any day, there was a day,
With less than thirty-one in them,
But still, no more then twenty-nine,
There'd need to be a special day for it.

What kind of day you ask to me? Well any kind will do, says I.
But then we must agree upon, what will be featured in this day.
Sports some say, but some say nay, why not make it a college day.
But still some seem to disagree, they say there should be exchanges made.

And then we all got to thinking,
What if it were a day for us.
For you we'd say, and they'd
Say yeah! For us and you, or
All who love. It could be just
That special for all, and all for one.

A day of romance, and joy, and love, what a stupendous idea indeed.
But what would we do, what could we do, and when would we hold such a ball?
Why easy, they said, the fourteenth it would be. But we're still at a loss.
This was our chance, and we took it. Why we know the perfect idea for a present.

A cactus could be, for they
Are tough and strong.
And a ripe watermelon,
Which is the tenderest of fruits.
And lets not forget, the best of the best,
A book, that lets us remember,
Of memories and knowledge
We never want to forget.

So now to this day, in only one place, can you find such a thing being done.
It’s wonderful you see, for you see, no one complains, and all are quite happy.
And still found of their cactus', books, and watermelons,
No one will ever forget the joy of this great Valentine's Day.
