That could work. As you say, then the question becomes what Schlock intends to do with a small army of amorphs -- or even one? Hum, would it help to have a potential duplicate for himself to step in somewhere? Oh, wait, doesn't the real Schlock on the show change colors and turn into a human? With the others, they might be able to handle that...
Could Lunesby access a chunk of amorph? If indeed they are derived from storage (don't I vaguely remember something about that), would a chunk of Schlock provide either a message to Lunesby or a method for smuggling him/herself out? Could Lunesby download into that small a piece? (I do remember that Schlock tucked away some significant memories in an eyeball once...)
It could be a stone, in which case poor Shafter may be being set up as a red herring of some kind. Of course, given the way Schlock has been absorbing and spitting stuff, who knows what he may have picked up in the trash, right?
