Hehe me and my friends would call people "Jerry" as an insult.  We had a friend named Jerry that wasn't the brightest.

Me and my friends would do that too, but we called 'em Louis (LOO-iss.  Not LOO-ee.)  Just 'cause we liked how it sounded: "you're such a Louis," or "you Louis," or "stop being a Louis."

I generally just made up insults on the spot. Often by combining two other words. Got something of a reputation for it.

SE, do not get me started on that. I've been anything from Josh, to Max, to I don't know. But I've been called all sorts of things except my name, until I remind that person.

And SE, thanks for the other nerve wrecking childhood memory. At least that part of my childhood will stay with me now.

I'm actually pretty afraid that is where the nickname comes from. . . . A guy friend of mine in high school started that particular nickname. I thought it was really cool so I introduced myself that way when I moved up to UT.
