So, what's the news, HoM. How's it going? Did you and Fell managed to compact the series from three books into two?
-
The news is that things are going very slowly, but moving. Yes, book two and book three will be combined, making it a two book series. I'm thanking my lucky stars that I kept promoting it to the publisher as a series rather than a trilogy.
My guess is that it will be to the publisher in two months, and I'm hoping that the process on their end will be relatively quick -- my guess is that it will be released somewhere around next spring. I hope.
I've decided to avoid writing sequels for a long time.
-
Yeah yeah yeah! I got the book today. Hopefully Brandon won't read this thread and see that I'm going to read yours now and finish it first!
-
Oh good. I was beginning to think it had got lost in the mail.
-
Incidentally, in regards to Awake 2, I officially got the "I'm breathing down your neck" email from my editor yesterday. Let's hope things speed up.
-
Oo! I want to see that. Do you think you can post it?
-
I can't. Actually, due to me posting some of my editor's emails on my blog, she's now started putting a little confidentiality blurb at the bottom of her emails. I'd mentioned a little too much of their processes that they didn't want competitors to know. I think it's hilarious.
The email wasn't really anything great, though, so you're not missing anything. Basically, I'd told them the book would be done in February, and it isn't. I'm not on a contracted deadline, but they want to see it as soon as they can.
-
heheh...Stick it to the MAN!

So, what's the 'E.' stand for? I did enjoy the book. The acknowledgements and about the author pages were my favorite two. =P You should write an afterword for the second one discerning where all this goofy material came from and how you got your info on just how subtle airport security would be at 3 am and what would happen if someone continued using their broken wristed hand after it's been broken for days. Fell must not of been too happy about those little trials and tribulations.
-
The E stands for Earl.
And yes, no doctors were consulted in the writing of the book. (However, doctors were consulted for the writing of the sequel.)
-
So, the book is complete! Well, almost. It's been sent out to readers this week for critique, and I hope to have it to Covenant by the end of the month.
-
Well, hooray. The book is done, and sent off to Covenant via the glory of the world wide web. I can't tell you how happy I am to have this stupid thing finished. It'll be a long time before I try writing a sequel again...
-
Congratulations! Well done, hear hear, all that good stuff...
-
As a guy who's now editing his first sequel, I heartily congratulate you. It's harder than it looks.
-
So HoM, when is this book coming out? Haven't heard anything about it in forever.
-
you mightn find answers over at his site.
-
I might. But that takes too much effort.
-
Actually, in this case, the website doesn't say too much about specifics.
It's scheduled for May or June release. Due to several weird things going on in the LDS market (which I've been asked not to discuss publically) the book is undergoing some hefty rewrites. Ultimately, I think the finished product will be better, but it's painful right now.
Send me an email if you want more details. robisonwells at msn.com

Update:
I just talked to my editor, and it looks like we're officially slated for May. I'm still not completely finished with rewrite, and we still don't have a title, but they're really trying to rush the production.
For those who I haven't talked to, this book is going to be marketed -- well, I am going to be marketed as the LDS Dan Brown. Consequently, they want to get a boost in sales from the release of The Da Vinci Code movie in May. For what it's worth...
-
BWAHAHAH! That's awesome!
-
As one of his main brainstorming partners, I can vouch that all of Mustard's new ideas are very cool, and the book should be pretty neat--a little more buckling of swashes than is typical for the LDS market, and some generally cool stuff.
-
isn't is swashing buckles?
-

That was written eight months ago!!
Haven't you written 2 sequels since then? Or the same sequel twice? :o
-
Oh lordy lordy, your mother is hilarious.
-
Blah blah blah.
The current situation is this: the release got bumped back a month or two, and I'm in the final edits. However, I'm very pleased with how things are going.
-
Don't talk to your mother that way!
-
Kids these days, no respect at all.
-
I agree. Is that really your mom? That's so cool...if she's really your mom...that is...

I think the instrument Babe might be one to something. What if this "fellsmum" is actually a person employed with some disreputable internet advertising firm that's just here to advertise things. Right now she's just on phase one of her scheme, posting in a forum. Phase 2 is ??? and phase three is Money.
-
She is. Fell and Mustard are brothers, and thus mortal enemies. Fellsmum is the one who makes them play nice.
