Once again I thought of a fairly random question to ask. How long (aside from people who never did) did you guys lurk around the site before you joined? I myself lurked for about two weeks.
-
0 days. I came, I read reviews, I wrote a review, I was told to go to the forum to read the response. I wrote a review about 2 days after finding the site.
This is why I've never bothered to tell people to lurk before posting. It's not like I did. I was annoying as hell, probably, but that's not my problem.
-
A while. I don't remember exactly how long it was, but it was probably somewhere around a month. Then again, that wasn't because I was hesitant to post, it was more because, at the time, I didn't have an email address to call my very own.
-
I want to say several months to a year. I don't really remember. I hate registering with forums, though.
-
depends on what you mean my lurk. I wrote the second review ever given the TWG label, but that was before the site was built. I wrote several articles early on, but I didn't hang about the forum much. I hung around for about 2 weeks reading forums about 3 years ago, then started posting... to the most controversial thread running at the time, thus ensuring that everyone would love me.
-
Tsk tsk, SE.
As for me, I don't lurk as a general rule. I either join and participate or I don't come at all.
-
Yeah, I didn't really lurk much, either. :)
-
Hmm, interesting question. I probably lurked for a week or so and then joined--but not as Shrain, actually. Signed up under a different screenname and posted here and there, testing the waters so to speak. I thought it'd be fun to have a secret identity, you know. 8) So I didn't introduce myself as "Sarah" on the intro thread but used my middle name. lol. Later, I got really busy and didn't visit TWG much.
When I returned to the TWG fold, I felt pretty comfortable with just being myself. So I created my current profile, dutifully introduced myself, and then promptly made a fool of myself with one of my first posts. :P Yeah, I managed to say something stupid and insensitively oblivious almost right off the bat. Ugh. Not the TWG debut I'd wish on anybody. Anyway, luckily for me, I got a chance to make amends for being an idiot. ;)
-
What was your prior identity?
-
DARTH_SMILO? ;)
-
Except that DARTH_SMILO just started banning (posting) himself less than three weeks ago. So much for your theory.
-
DARTH_SMILO? ;)
eeek. Nope. Not even close.
What was your prior identity?
I'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you. Besides, as a mod, don't you have ways of discovering these things? ;)
-
Fells too lazy though. He barely read sthe forum as it is!
-
Aw, a pity. (All according to plan, of course.) I guess my defunct secret identity shall remain a mystery. Ex-cellent. 8)

/me gets a crack team of ninja monkeys to investigate this situation.
-
I posted right away, but I've mostly lurked since then. Does that count?

Hmm, and I thought they were extra busy making pizza! Curses. Now it's only a matter of time...
-
2-3 weeks.
-
wait 4-6 weeks for delivery.
-
no COD
-
Eh, you know what, I'm not really in the mood for pizza anymore. They'll have to find another way to bribe me into talking... ;)
-
Perhaps a sandwich? A ninja-monkey knuckle sandwich?
-
yipes. Oh, I'd pay good money to avoid eating that particular delicasy. Or at least give a *hint* about my former alias...
-
Last I heard ninja monkeys hated hints, and would only settle for the whole story. Infact I heard that the last person who only gave them a hint found several body parts in rather uncomfortable positions. I hear tell it's because they have trouble with problem solving riddle type things.
-
Ninja monkeys are like men. They don't understand hints.
-
Auch, what a pity! Yet there's such a thing as an impossibly vague hint and an especially obvious hint. One would hope that your ninja monkey crew could handle the latter. ;)
-
As Supreme Dictator of the Universe Elliott <----(for life) I......
......let e handle the situation.
-
I will handle it in my usual, efficient, serious manner.
Which means all the evidence will be destroyed, as will the witnesses.
-
I don't have an IP corellation, but you might have moved or changed ISPs, but I think I know who you were, Shrain. The monkeys have cracked your code.
-
Do we get links? To see for ourselves?
-
I'm going to verify it first.
-
*nods approvingly* Yes, because this is serious business! Lives are at stake, the whole kingdom might fall, and the dead might walk again...
-
you live in a kingdom?
your just full of deceptive delusional clues today.
-
Hey, at least I'm not into worshipping jelly doughnuts, buster. ;D
-
the whole kingdom might fall, and the dead might walk again...
Only if we're very lucky.
When we talk about the aforementioned food, I'm on track, correct?
-
mmmm walking Krispy Kremes.... that does sound like heaven.
-
Now you've got me confused. lol. My alter ego never had a jelly doughnut obsession. Honest. Can't remember ever posting about doughnuts, come to think of it...
-
Can't remember ever posting about doughnuts, come to think of it...
Hey, at least I'm not into worshipping jelly doughnuts, buster
You just did... Twice!
-
pfft. Not as my alter ego, though! Those don't count. ;)
-
not the donut part. The other part. along with the food referenced in your post 15 above this one
-
they do if your alter ego is your real ego.
-
Ah, pizza, eh? Well, I do love pizza. But I actually wasn't dangling a hint. I was still in the debate-if-ninja-monkeys-can-understand-hints phase of posting.
(Wait, wait *cough* don't kill me yet, please! Here's a real one. *cough* Okay, okay, here's two.)
1. Archon was the first to direct me to the FAQs page.
2. As the author of a musical number called the "Elantrian Blues," I--er, my alter ego--managed to both impress and disturb EUOL. hehe
-
And the alter ego is . . . CinderEllie
-
Bingo. :D Tink scores--and beats the ninja monkeys to it! lol. How in the world will they deal with this shattering defeat?
-
they already knew
-
Or so they'd like us to think. Their master was off on a goose chase involving pizza, nowhere that close to my secret identity.
-
What you don't realize is that Tink was, shall we say, 'convinced' to post the information by a team of ninja monkeys, thus adding to their shroud of darkness, secrecy, and lies.
-
the ninja monkeys *want* you to think they can be bested.
-
/me trembles. Looks around fearfully, wishing she had a pizza to distract the ninja monkeys when they come for her.
