There's an article about this over at gamespot wich is intereting since it talks about how interplay can even afford to pay any of their employes, rent, and insurence and yet they're talking about makeing a MMORPG wich is the most expensive type of game to develop.

It may be my first MMORPG if this is true. I wish they would just get their act together and finish up Fallout 3. I'm on like my 40th time around in Fallout 2. It's getting kind of old.

Unless interplay sells the rights to fallout I doubt you'll ever see Fallout 3 considering the MMORPG is what the company president says he wants to do now.

Personally, I think unless Interplay sells the rights to Fallout, we'll never see another game in the series again. Interplay is struggling against its last breath, and I don't think anything is going to save them at this point. Hopefully, when they inevitably go under, the Fallout license will go to a company who loves the series as much as the fans.

Though, you have to admit, a Fallout MMORPG does sound a little tempting.  That game had one of the coolest character creation and random encounter systems ever.

I have to agree with Tage on this one.  Interplay has been in so much trouble this year I don't see how they can muster the funds to make the game.

Tactics wasn't that bad, I enjoyed it. Brotherhood of Steel wasn't that great. Fallout should not be anything other than an RPG.

Personally, I think Tactics is one of the greatest video games ever.  But I'm partial to tactical RPGs.

I just wish there had been some speaking. And the item distribution was kinda odd. By the time I found the Steyr, it was useless. Same with the Gauss Pistol.

Well here's the long awaited news on the next Fallout game.  Bethesda (morrowind) will be makeing it.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/07/12/news_6102349.html

They lincenced the rights to the series from Interplay and will handle all development and publishing themselfs.  They will not be makeing a MMORPG.
