I spent today taking care of academic problems. I changed my minor, and by changing it (it was a pretty simply change, all things considered) I bumped my grad date back a semester, something I really can't afford to do.
Also, BYU-I's trying to get rid of the German program (something about German being a dead language and one of the officials not really liking it, so that merits the cutting of the whole program...
). As it's the foreign language I'm taking for my required 11 foreign language credits to graduate, I'm really not thrilled about this decision. Especially as it also is going to bump my grad date back even further.
I talked to professor about this (I tried to talk to my advisor but she's not on campus) and she told me that I might be able to waive a course for my minor problem, and if I explain my whole problem to the lady in the College of Language and Letters, I might even be able to waive the other credits I'm deficient in for foreign language (I've taken semesters in each Japanese, ASL, Spanish, and German over the last 4 years). Hopefully, both of these will work. If so, that makes the next 2 semesters CRAZY busy, but at least I'll be graduating next July. Which was my original goal....
Still, though. German, a dead language? What are these people ON?
