the well-armed ladies surrounding the Splurgoth
You must be refering to the cover of the Rifts main book which depicts three blind warrior women (aka - the Altara Warrior Women) surrounding a Splugorth slaver on an Eylor barge.
Until you pointed out in your column that sex is every where, I hadn't even noticed the high MD "wedgey suit" that these cloned women are wearing. I almost hung up my dice when products like Book of Erotic Fantasy and Encyclopedia Arcane: Nymphology hit the shelves. Heck I remember TSR's "Standards of Content" rules that WotC attempted to adopt, and then broke, and then enforced, and now broke again. It's all such a shame to see this stuff (I definitely don't let my 5 year-old son look at most of my RPGs).
While we're on the subject, what about the grusome art? The disembowelings, beheadings, and blood soaked stuff (example-anything by White Wolf). Didn't Dragon Magazine and the mid to late 80s TSR set the standard for not showing this kind of junk (I find it all taseless).
I guess you can put my mark in the "gamers get old" category.
