So it's up.
http://www.rifftrax.com/Html/Download_StarWars.html
And thanks to Nessa we have a place so now we need to decide when.
-
So far my December schedule is open. (We were going to make it a Christmas party-like shindig, right?) That may change as ward/family/work parties are scheduled. The only weekend nights we can't do it are December 8th, 16th, and 22nd. The 29th is a good day if we wanted to do it after Christmas, and we'd be less likely to run into other holiday parties that way, too.
We have a copy of Ep 1, too.
-
Oh, I am so coming to that. I think this time I'll bring my wife too.
-
I don't know how everyone feels about having kids at the party. My three will of course be there, and probably watch part of the movie with us (at least until bedtime comes). They love to have friends come and play, so I'm fine with people bringing their kids. If the movie goes late then kids will get tired and cranky and parents would have to leave early, which would ruin their fun. So whatever. I'm just trying to be flexible.
-
I won't be bringing mine, because I know they won't be well-behaved that late at night.
-
Well I definitely want to see it, so I'll be there.
-
I'm in if it's after Christmas.
-
I should be available any night after Christmas except the 26th, with is Lost One and mine traditional birthday bash.
-
Oh! I'll be in UT that week still. Huzzah! Count me in as well, for the force is strong with your theater system. :D
-
humm I was hoping of before Christmas, I don't know what my schedule will be then so I may not be in Utah then.
We might just have to get together at Brandon's again to watch Xmen before EP1.
-
I'm okay with pre-Christmas. I'll probably be in town from 12/19/06 to 1/1/07. Since my parents live in a different ward now and my old singles ward was dissolved (because we were too wicked cool, you see, not because BYU and UVSC hogged all the members), I won't have that much going on. A few parties here and there. But I'm flexible.
-
If for some unfortunate reason Shrain can't attend, I'll have a private showing just for her! She can come over anytime.
-
Despite how much fun my oldest would have watching a riff on Ep I, I'll be there sans children. Just name the time.
-

lol. That's right folks, I am moving up in the world. ;)
-
Ok, it's time to pin down the date. Here's a few suggestions. Place your votes! (they are all December dates)
Friday 9th
Friday 15th
Thursday 21st
Saturday 23rd
Wednesday 27th
Thursday 28th <--my vote
Friday 29th <-- my vote
Saturday 30th
My house is also available for other weekdays like 5th, 12th, 13th, 19th (Mondays and some Wednesdays are unavailable).
I will choose a day based on most convenient for the most people.
-
Either the 28th or 29th will work fine for me.
-
I would be fine with the 28th or 29th.
-
I would prefer the 28th
-
Any day after the 21st.
-
Sounds like Thursday, the 28th is the best day. It's offical, then.
Will there be food? A pot-luck? Or just a dessert buffet or something? The only other TWG party I attended I arrived late, so I don't know how this should work. I would be happy to provide eating utinsels and drinks...
-
I'll be out of town. Sad, cause I wanted to meet Nessa.
-
We'll miss you, Fish!
Nessa, having you provide the utensils and drinks sounds perfect. Pot luck would be cool. I could bring homemade rolls or something and we could have deli meat, cheese, chips, etc. Or we could do a potato bar or taco bar theme thing. mmmm.
-
We did a crock pot thing at our Halloween party, which was awesome but maybe a little complex for most people, since we only had a couple of crock pots show up. I'd prefer a plan where everyone can actually bring something, which makes sandwiches a good idea. People could bring rolls, cheese, meat, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, hummus, whatever they want to eat on a sandwich. That kind of food is also very portable, but does tend to be a bit crumb-y.

I have children, I can handle crumbs. If that's what people want to eat, we can have that.

I wanted to meet you too, Fish. Too bad you can't come. :(
-
Rally 'round the Nessa!!
Hey, girl, I won't desert you. I'll be there if you still want to show a movie (and I'm not stuck on the SW rifftrax thing, btw.) I'm dying to see your killer home theater anyhow. And I'd love to play games afterwards. I dunno how to play "Magic" or most of the "gamer games," but I play a mean Boggle match! ;) Is anyone else still planning on showing up?
-
I have a spare turkey that I'm planning on roasting for the Rifftrax party. So if we want to maybe assign fixings around that, we can have a nice dinner to go with the movie.
Do we have a head count for the number of people coming?
-
Vote in the poll so I can get a headcount.
If you are coming, email me ([email protected]) so you can either tell me what food you plan to bring or so I can make a food assignment.
Turkey: great! I think it would be great for sandwiches. Maybe Shrain can bring some bread and Fell or someone can bring lettuce/tomatoes, and we need a volunteer for cheese. Anyone, anyone?
I bought a ton of drinks and still need to get paper plates and stuff.
-
No need for a new thread.
(man I love the merge topic feature)
-
Oh! Thanks very much Sprig. There wasn't an option to add a poll to this thread, so that's why I started a new one.
-
Figured as much, only admins and moderators can add polls to existing threads but that's an option we can change if Fell wants.
-
Ooh. A merge topic feature? Yah, that's neat-o.
A poll's a good idea too. My vote's in. :)
Yeah, I can bring bread, no problem. I'm dying to go to Great Harvest again! Oh how I've missed it.... ;D
-
I'm gonna try to make it. That whole week is bad for me, since I have to go see my family SOME time, and Pemberly wants to be here in our own home for our first Christmas together. I'll be back the 31st for sure, but the 28th...ouch.
However, if I don't make it, I'll host a reshowing at my house for everyone else who couldn't make it.
-
EUOL if you just come for the movie, I'm planning on starting it at 7:00, so if you want to skip the dinner portion, or any after-movie games, then just come for the movie. My house is about 15 minutes from yours, so hopefully won't be too much trouble to come.
And for the rest of you, I thought we'd eat at about 6:30, movie directly following. Then, if anyone wants to stay after the movie for conversation and games, they certainly can. Bring a game if you want.
-
Yay--a plan. Starting time sounds good. Movie good. Games and convo good. :)
Oh, and it looks like a friend of mine will be in town so I'll bring him along with too.
-
For my address and directions to my house, please send me an email or PM. Fell also has my address, so you can ask him too.
-
Nessa, how are you planning on playing the RiffTrax? They're a MP3 and last time we were playing both the DVD and the trax on a Laptop so the two overlapped each other.
-
I'm going to try to see if I can pipe them through my receiver simultaneously. We're testing it tonight or tomorrow. Otherwise, I dunno.
I don't suppose you could help? Give me a call: 234-9368.
-
Nothing like technical difficulties during the holidays! :P
Well, if it doesn't work, we could just put in a different movie.
Nessa, am I still bringing bread for turkey sandwiches?
-
Shrain: yes, you're bringing bread
Oldie: Bringing turkey
Fell: Bringing sandwich toppings
Skar: Bringing chips
Me: Drinks, paper plates, condiments
The rest of you: Please bring desserts or other side dishes such as fruit or veggies.
-
Just got back from Idaho so not going to be much help now. I'll call you tomorrow, EUOL and I were talking about how to get this to work and so I have a few ideas.
-
Thanks for reminding me.
*Pulls the turkey out of the freezer.*
-
Well, we tried piping two things through the receiver and that won't work. We could play the movie and then the MP3 off the laptop, but the sound isn't very good.
-
Pump the sound through a portable stereo. I know sprig has an MP3 player and i can bring one of those portable stereos and a tape adaptor (to connect the headphone jack on the PM3 player with the tape deck on the portable stereo.) You can get decent sound through a setup like that right?
-
We also have an MP3 player. That would be great if you could bring a portable stereo!
Oh, and I have two couches in the basement, but for comfort's sake, if you have bean bags or other lounge items, bring them, too.
-
Wow this is getting needlessly complicated, I'll just burn a DVD with the movie and the track on it.
-
As always Sprig is awesome!
Also, as a reminder, the time for eating is 6:30 and we'll begin the movie about 7ish for those just coming for the movie. Afterward: conversation and a few games.
-
We might still want a backup plan, only was able to find one version of the film in the file format I need (so I don't have to re-render it when I burn the DVD) and it's coming along very slowly so it might not be done in time. Right now have about a day left of download time.
Also, who's buying the Rifftrax? I assume it's me but I want to make sure.
-
I have a copy of the Rifftrax as well, just in case. Skar, still bring the portable stereo, as a backup plan.
-
Last night's party was great! A bunch of people came and it turned out well. Thanks to Fell, my kitchen still smelled like bacon this morning. And I should have Skar's boys over to play every night, seeing as how they wore my boys out so thoroughly they didn't protest bedtime.
I fully intended to take a whole bunch of pictures, but only snuck two in:

Yeah, once the bacon hit the pan, all bets were off. Counterfeit Magic cards appeared, food and drink disappeared at an alarming rate, allomancers ran amok, and everyone subjected themselves to the worst that Lucas had to offer. Inconceivable!
Oldie, we sure are glad you (and the delish turkey) made it to the party--once we thought to give ya an *address,* that is! Amazing how useful one of those can be, huh.... ;)
