it wasnt a given that it was well accepted in greece, as one of the charges that were leveled upon Plato was that of corrupting the youth... it was implied that that wasn't just about teaching them to think for themselves (and thus making the disrespectful of their elders) but an overall effort to lead them into lacivious behavior.

actually, the charges against SOCRATES were corrupting the youth, and it had primarily to do with teaching them unorthodoz views about the gods, rather than sexuality. Relations between men WAS much more common than you imply in classical Greece.

Yes. It was the same in pre-islamic times in the Gulf region. Very common for old men and young boys to have relationships.

So yes, Plato probably was homosexual. But, then so was the vast majority of Greeks (rich ones at least).

I still don't know why this is even worthy of note. I'm only marginally interested in the fact that a couple of the members of my RPG group are homosexual, and i RP with them. It's simply not all that interesting.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)
