"Magic is what makes fantasy fantastic," someone says, "you can't apply rules to them or else it loses wonder!" I respond, "Sure, but if you want to write them you will certainly want to know how they work." Writing is all about execution, and I find applying some basic laws of physics to magic systems make them more understandable and realistic. Here, I'm going to outline my basic method for developing a magic system.

That one already happened. It was when Kaladin jumped across the chasm, soaking in the Stormlight from the gemhearts in the Parshendi beards, and saying "I will protect those who cannot protect themselves".if that is the only interpretation of it, it would imply that the Parshendi are working on Kaladins side
No, he gave it to Elhokar to give to "whoever he deemed fittest" in all of the warcamps. Elhokar already had his own set, likely from Gavilar. The reference shouldn't be too hard to find, but I don't have my book with me.No I think I recall that Elhokars plate and blade are different from Gavilars, and that Elhokars came from the parshendi, but i dont have the references for that. which makes me wonder what DID happen to Gavilars shards?
I'm quite confident of it, though.
feel free to create your own theory.thank you, I think I will. Szeth can surbind because he is clearly the descendent of a Herald, that explains the whole voidbingers do/do not exist conflict of his, the heralds founded Shin and told everybody that the voidbringers were gone, he discovered that they were lying through their teeth and called them on it, hence he became a truthless!
