coworkers, as a general rule

Are complete and total morons.

Oh yeah.  Girl who sits next to me?  Told a customer today that we couldn't ship to them because we can't ship to New England, only the United states.

Bwahahahaha!

And you know what? She was probably talking to *my* coworker, who was looking for a calendar today, and someone posted a recommendation for finding one at overstock on the company bulletin board.

Gah, probably.  She orginally thought they said they lived in England, and told them we can't ship to England (which is true).  Then I heard her say, "Oh NEW England.  I don't think we ship there either, we can only ship in the United states."

Then she asked the guy on the other side of me if he knew where New England was.  He did not.  I supressed a scream, put my customer on hold for 5 seconds and explained to her what and where New England was, as quickly as possible.

I don't know where new England is.

As a matter of fact, though, yesterday I attended this meeting where I had the opportunity to meet the people who will also be working at the Student Computing Helpdesk. And they were extremely cool people. It's going to be a fun six months.

I mean, there's two campuses, KG (Mine, the cool one) and GP (The main one, that is less cool). There's a third campus, but the less said about that, the better. There was kind of an inter campus rivalry going on here. I have already identified myself as one of the KG people, being an education student and working there most and everything.

In any case, you wouldn't believe how well this group gets on. I will be paid for what was, essentially, eight hours of sitting down, listening to some relevent information, and a lot of wisecracks.

For your foreign enlightenment:
New England is the area farthest northeast in the United states.  It consists of New Hampshire, Conneticuit, Vermont, Maine, Massachutesetts and  Rhode Island.  Some people might tell you that New York is part of New England, but don't listen to them, They are wrong...

Jam, I wouldn't expect you to know where New England is, since you don't live in America.   I wish I knew something equivalent in Australia to compare it to, but I don't since I know nothing about geography there.  It's a region; you refer to New England the way you refer to "The South" or "The West Coast"

The whole thing was giving me flashbacks to highschool.  First week of my freshman year and I'm in an argument with this junior in my Spanish class. She insisted that Rhode Island is not a state, it's an island like Long Island or Staten Island.

We tried to explain that not only was Rhode Island a state, it was one of the original 13 states!  It took half the class and someone finding a history book to convince her otherwise.

There is also a New England in Australia actually.  And a New England National Park.  Its out by Ebor, this side of Armidale Jam.

Isn't Armidale West rather than South of where you are?

Even I have a very vague idea of where new england is. Been there before.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Uh, yes Jam.  Its called being between me and Armidale.  So... its to the west of me, and to the east of Armidale.

But Armidale is only a little out west, so how does that leave room for anything but road?

Please excuse this discussion of Australian Geography. It's stupidly designed to us as well.

Well, no offence meant Jam, but you shoulda taken geography.  Armidale is actually a fair way out west.  You know, from dorrigo its only like over an hour and a half driving west to reach it?

I know you were being funny Sprig, but Georgia was where they sent their criminals before they sent them to Australia. New England was where all the religious freaks went.
