They had Patricia C. Wrede here last year--which was really cool.  She's one of my favorites from when I was younger.  She writes the "Dealing with Dragons" books.

I read "Feed" for my YA lit creative writing class last year.  I thought it was an interesting book, and a pretty good read, but not spectacular.

well, actually...it wasn't either.  It was a steer.  So Stacer is right in that it *was* a (functioning) male, though it became a steer at a very early age.

yup, I'm going to own my own company.  I've decided that it'll probably be about ten years from now, because I need more experience in the field and I need to take some business classes in order to learn how to run a company and such.  I also need time to build up capital and contacts.  But I think I can do it, and I have people like you guys to draw upon (mostly a good thing. ;) ), so that's a plus.  We'll see how it goes.

Now, back to the thesis of doom! (I wrote a 28 page chapter yesterday...go me!) Happily, I only have one more full chapter to write, and then it's in the revisions stage.

Now my only question is this--is the lack of a deadline the only reason my creative writing takes me so long?  I've written almost 100 pages in two weeks for this thesis.  Maybe I just need to convince myself that something is due and I'll write faster...

oh, I don't know about that.  I'm not very obsessive, and editing takes my mind off of my worries sometimes.  Mostly because I get the chance to concentrate on something different than whatever is stressing me out.  Like my thesis, which must be done by Friday.  Of course, hanging out on the message board is also more fun than writing my thesis chapters.  Right now, for example, I *should* be writing the last half of chapter five, but I'm posting messages instead.

I love milk and cheese and ice cream too.  However, cows are evil!  They are cute when they are little, and it's fun to have them run after you in the pasture.  Then they grow up and get HUGE. Suddenly, it's not so fun to have them run after you any more....

Not that something like that's ever happened to me...yeah.  Okay, so it did.  That cow was SCARY!  I was happy when he was finally big enough to eat.

Mad Dr. Jeffe always has interesting things to say and I like reading his responses, especially in the Rant section.

Well, the title of my thesis is "Shaping Family Identity: Personal Narratives as Vernacular Family Traditon" (It's an English Masters thesis, obviously...).

Basically, I interviewed my grandfather and my great-uncle about their lives, transcribed and edited the interviews, and now I'm talking about the values and perceptions of "self" found in the stories. I'm also talking about the fact that we learn about our families through stories and these stories shape our family identity.

It's actually really interesting (to me, at least, which is good since I have to write it).  It helps that my grandfather and great-uncle are both *excellent* story tellers. I just hope I can write the rest of it before it's due (this Friday...).

I feel like a hermit!  It's probably due to the fact that I just started a third job as well as the problem of needing to write the last three chapters of my Masters thesis this week...plus I'm a slacker.  Which, come to think of it, is more likely the reason I post so infrequently. :)

In a closing statement, I don't know what I would do as president, senior sarcastic, that's why I didn't tun.  Well that and the age requirement.

Umm...I was talking about the *real* candidates, not you, just so you know.  I wasn't being sarcastic.  You're entitled to your opinion, just like everyone else.

My biggest problem with most of the candidates right now is that their platforms are mostly "We hate Bush, elect me instead" rather than "Here's what I think, here's what I want to do as president."

Yes, I know you hate Bush.  It seems like most everyone does.  Now, what do *you* plan on doing if you win the presidency, Mr. Candidate?
