I think this is a good reason not to call it The Gathering Storm.  From her point of view the storm has been gathering for a long long time.  It is first referenced in book 2 from my recollection.  Why would the book 13 be the gathering storm then when we have seen the storm building for 11 books already. 

It is better then Gathering clouds but it seams so bland.   I have heard the phrase before and it is alreayd the title of a book by Winston Churchill.  Granted I don't exptect a war documentary by Winston Churchill to be confused with WoT. 

It is a good question though, why Myrelle and not someone closer to hand.  Moiraine's accepted "trick" was crystal scrying she'd have been able to locate someone close enough to limit the risk that Lan "accidentally" get himself killed traveling cross country.

Myrelle was chosen because of her talent with warders that have lost there bond partners.  Also someone closer was not really applicable at the time she set up the passing of the bond.  I am about half way through book 2 right now and just read the part where Moraine told Lan that the bond had been set up to pass on the death of her.   She knew long ago that she might die and that when she did she did not want Lan to die as well.  She did not know who was going to be close at the time of her passing and it may take the two of them together (both Aes Sedai) to set up the passing of the bond.  That means one on one contact and they need to do it ahead of time.

As far as the multiple book thing goes Brandon now has the progress bar for revising The Gathering Storm at 100% so I guess he is done with that book and it will be released to the printers soon to get ready to release on November 9th.  I have to go preorder mine soon.

I finally got to read Brandon's response on the splitting of the books and I am glad to see there is a logical reason for splitting the book into 3 volumes.  I am glad that it is not just a marketing ploy and that the books are going to be thouroughly done.  I hope he still gets time to work on his other projects as well too.  I still have to pick up the Alcatraz books and read them.  The only part of the post that I didn't like is this.

I am guessing that this means I won't find out who killed Asmo in book on then.  I am glad he is taking the time to do the series right thought.  Railroading the series would have not felt right.  It would have completely broken the feeling of having RJs last book because the writing style would have had to differ so much.

I see you are getting pretty far in.  I just started my reread so that I am ready for the release of AMoL.  I am only on The Dragon Reborn book though.  Rand just used the portal stone to go to the alternate reality with Hurrin, and Loail.  I like this part of the book for 2 reasons.  This is where Rand starts to actively try to use the OP even though he doesn't want too, and Perrin is forced to start to come to terms with being a wolfbrother.   Mat is a complete jerk in this book but what can you expect,  it is mat.  I know I get my first glimpse of Lanfear in a few chapters too.

I had to answer maybe on this.  I listened to the sample when it first came out and was very impressed.  Now thinking about it, I wish the example had one of the action scenes in it.  That is what will make or break this format for me.  If the action scenes are done well and understandable I would really like this format over the regular audiobook.  Mainly because an audiobook that I am listening to in the car is to easy to tone out and lose track of then when it is just one person reading everything.  If I hadn't already read the books that I have on CD i would get really confused just figuring out who is talking.  This format gets rid of that confusion. I would like to see someones reveiw of the entere book in this format before making a buying decision though.  Well that and get a ipod dock in my car so that I can play it there without having to burn 19 cds.
