I'm very disappointed the Fell forgot to mention one thing in this week's poll report.
It clearly shows that I'm right and he's wrong.

I had a hard time choosing between "oily" and "overrated" on that one. I eventually went with the latter because I felt it was even more true BECAUSE of the former.

Let it be shouted from the rooftops that Tage was right and I was wrong: the majority of people do not think that Kidman is gorgeous.
However, let it similarly be shouted that I am right and Tage, along with the majority of people, are wrong: Kidman is gorgeous no matter who says otherwise.

I ended up voting for "acceptable" i think.
She is wierd. She has all the things that i like - large mammaries etc - and yet she just doesn't look... good. It is bizarre. Maybe it is like how the human brain is programmed to find human feces more disgusting than other species. A kind of self defence mechanism.

Sorry I'm late. I second Fell's comments. I no longer have any respect for any of the rest of you morons (I didn't have a lot of respect for Ehlers anyway.)
Nicole Kidman is gorgeous. You all must be blind or delusional or intoxicated or something.

Nicole Kidman is absolutely gorgeous.
Hands down.
She's not slutty at all, though she has looked slutty in more than a few roles (Eyes Wide Shut, anyone?)

And he's an EYE DOCTOR. He knows what he's talking about when it comes to visual perception.

In all fairness, I'm only ALMOST and eye doctor. Give me another 2 years. :)
But I do know what I'm talking about because I minored in 'Stunningly Attractive Women' in undergrad. The coursework wasn't hard, but the frequent tests could be killer.

Im not sure where you guys are getting oily? But thats ok. She's allright, (I wouldn't kick her out of bed or put a paper bag over her face) but I think there are more luscious starlets.

It's not hard to have more luscious girls in your econ class than Ms. Kidman, as someone who grew up in the jungle and has never been groomed would be more luscious. I'm seriously turned off by her. when I saw Portrait of a Lady and she was on screen naked, I just about threw up. I find her terribly, terribly unattractive.
Ok, that's not entirely true. I WOULD find her tolerable if filmmakers didn't insist on trying to portray her as sexy. It's at that poing that I gross out. So I stand by my decision of "overrated" and add the prefix "Incredibly"

We got oily, as a matter of fact, from Tage. It was that very discussion between he and I that prompted the poll.
If you want to talk about allegedly attractive people who are actually oily and creepy, let's talk about Richard Gere. Actually, let's not--the mere mention of him gives me the slime mold willies.

And yeah, let's not bring Richard into this. He has enough private shame on his own. But I do want to add Uma Thurman and Sharon Stone to the "Supposedly attractive but generally nauseous" list

Okay, Saint, that's it. You do need your eyes checked.
Now I won't argue that Uma is generally unattractive, but there are times when she looks phenomenal. Sharon Stone isn't incredibly sexy, but she's not bad either.

Actually, with Stone it's less her physical appearance than everything else about her: personality, acting ability, views, opinions, manner of speach...

Hey, any women who want to comment on which other women are hot can jump on in. Women are constantly judging each other anyway (much more than men do, I've found) so why not let us in on that mystery that is the female mind.
Also, you could always start a "Tom Cruise hot or not?" thread.

I think you're right, Pleasington. According to my wife, most women dress up and put on makeup and wear matching shoes in order to impress other women, not men. Apparently, women realize that men just don't notice a lot of that stuff.

heh, not that this is anywhere NEAR on subject (when has that mattered?) but I used the word "dodgy" last night when I pointed out that we were in a very shady neighborhood, to which I had to clarify that I meant that the large number of tall deciduous plantlife created a lot of shade, not that it was dodgy.
This led to explaining about the demand that Entropy had been told to use more slang from the other side of the pond. Which led to my explanation that I thought he already *did,* haveing recently called me a jammy git.
anyway, that's all irrelevant to our sexism and not very interesting, so I'll shut up now.

Argh... Nicole Kidman got the title role in the upcoming Bewitched movie. Who thought that Nicole Kidman is anything like Elizabeth Montgomery. If fact, who thought that Nicole Kidman could be a comedic actor. At least they're looking at getting Will Ferrel to play Derrin, but already I'm forseeing a big flop.

uh... I had no clue there was anything resembling a market for a Bewitched movie.... Sorry, it sounds worse than a live action Scooby Doo. Almost on par with a live action Garfield.

I can see a Bewitched movie being good if they made some good csting call. My first choice would probably be Jenna Elfman (Dharma, Dharma and Greg), but even Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow or Cameron Diaz could pull off a decent performance. Kidman has no comedic ability, at least not intentionally. It also is a big hint that the screenwriters are going for camp.
