Title: Dagon
Post by: MoreDew on October 27, 2004, 11:48:21 PM
Man, I saw this movie on the Sci-Fi channel the other night and it was great!  If you're a die-hard Lovecraft fan, you'll love this movie.  The movie is based off the story of The Shadow Over Innsmouth.  The main difference in the movie from the story is that in the movie, the story takes place in Spain instead of the New England area.  Even though it's definately a b-rated movie, the special effects weren't too bad.  The best thing about the movie was that the main character was wearing a Miskatonic U sweatshirt!

I highly recommend to everyone that watches it that they know a little Spanish, because there is a lot of spanish dialogue without subtitles.  If I didn't know Spanish, I would have been irritated throughout the entire movie.

Another great thing about the movie, Uxia, the chick with the tentacles for legs, is realllllly hot!

Two thumbs up from me!  What does everyone else think?

... said the anime fan.

Haven't seen this one. saw From Beyond though.. I just remember, for a cheesy movie (which it definitely was), it creeped me out quite a bit.

The movie is about a scientist who develops a machine that allows him to see an overlapping dimension. He thinks they can't see back, but, of course, he's wrong. They start going mad and getting eaten. And for some reason, the pineal glands (a eye-like gland in the center of the forehead) of those in the house starts to evolve and grows into a little eyestalk. Weird stuff. THe plot didn't make much sense, esp the BSDM scene. But it was freaky.

That is also based off of a lovecraft story, SE. Not certain which one, but in the story they use the machine, see beyond, and then the guy who made it got eaten and the other guy sprinted away. Much like many lovecraft stories.

yeah, I think there IS a Lovecraft story called "From Beyond." That's why I brought it up in a thread about a movie based on a Lovecraft story.

They horribly twisted the plot though. I suppose that's to be expected.
